Obama opposes cutting funding for Democrat's propaganda arm

This Friday, President Obama defended funding for NPR and PBS. Obama said,
“And that means not just going after Head Start or Corporation for Public Broadcasting. That’s not where the money is...”
Although NPR gets only 2% of it's budget directly from the Federal Government, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting gets about $400 million a year from the government. About $90 million of that money goes to radio stations. NPR gets their government money second hand by charging the public radio stations for programing. NPR has recently been stung in a video where they disparage conservatives and global warming skeptics. Sens. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) and Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) have introduced a bill to defund the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. That would save $400 million and cut off Democrats free propaganda arm. President Obama doesn't think that is a significant amount of money?

(Briefing Room) — President Obama defended public broadcasting from cuts on Friday, emphasizing that defunding networks like NPR and PBS would do little to rein in spending.

As Republicans in Congress hope to defund government assistance to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which in turn supports NPR and PBS stations, Obama said the cuts make little sense.

“I think it’s going to be important for us to have a conversation after we get the short-term budget done, about how do we really tackle the problem in a comprehensive way,” Obama said at a press conference on Friday.
