Hundreds of Thousands of energy-saving light bulbs recalled

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Thousands of energy-saving Telstar Products light bulbs have been voluntarily recalled for fire hazards, the government said on Tuesday.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a statement that some 317,000 bulbs can overheat.

Two incidents of fire were reported to the New York-based firm.

The CPSC urged consumers to take the bulbs back to the place of purchase for a full refund.

The recalled bulbs come in both the spiral shape and the 3-U shape and in various wattages. They were sold from August 2010 through March 2011 in discount stores throughout New York and New Jersey.
