Sarah's Secret Weapon (2.0)

Being a Palin apologist is risky business. There is always the chance, I suppose, that Sarah will do something that legitimizes the perpetual moonbattery that oozes from the cracks of what’s left of popular culture in America. (By the way, is Larry Flynt still a liberal icon after his recent attack on that right-wing nut Trig Palin?)

The liberal blogosphere pretends that conventional wisdom has established beyond doubt that Sarah Palin is a moron. But from their stunted battlement ignorant misfires occur on a daily basis. How smart do you have to be to avoid mentioning a Down Syndrome affected child? Wonkette, et al, while straining mightily to impune Sarah’s smarts, can’t seem to figure out what most people get without thinking: Attacking handicapped children seldom wins hearts and minds.

I hold to the theory that every adult human interaction can be traced to high school. When the libtards from the left scream incongruously that Palin is bereft of the intelligence needed to order pizza, what they are really decrying is their own incompetence. Indeed, the evidence that this state of affairs is indeed true mounts unrelentingly. Sarah Palin is not only not dumb, she might be the smartest politician on the scene in a generation. And just like that nerdy kid in school who knew all the answers to the test, she gets pounded by the class clowns for being the overachieving whiz kid.

At this point the canard that Palin is slow is not believed by anyone, including the talking heads in the MSM. They would love for it to be so, and they pray daily that she will misspeak ala Gingrich, but even a cursory look at her recent political maneuvers offer scant hope for the RINOs or the DINOs who wish her ill. The Sarah Palin of 2012 will not be the Sarah Palin of 2008, her learning curve is steep, and her course requires little if any correction.

Let’s take a quick look at some of the more recent of her political maneuvering, shall we? In each we will not only find unconventional strategy, but also a determination to what is right. Maverick anyone?

Item 1. Relinquishing the governorship of Alaska was a masterstroke, regardless of how the hallowed punditry might portray it. Palin quit because quitting was what was best for Alaska, and America. Her instincts were rock solid, and the effectiveness of Palin unleashed were undeniable. Russia notwithstanding, it is a truism that proximity is important. Missives from afar seldom have the impact that a non-teleprompted speech can deliver. To accomplish this any politician would need two things, courage and smarts. The left will sometimes concede the courage, but they know that they can never concede the latter.

Item 2. Sarah’s choice of India and Israel to begin establishing foreign policy gravitas were perfect for her purposes. India is a natural U.S. ally, and soon to be an economic powerhouse. Going there sends the message to them, and to our potential enemies, that the future President of the United States recognizes their importance on the world stage, and also understands that India and America have many of the same values in common. As for Israel, her warm welcome from Netenyahu sent a clear message to all Americans: Palin stands with Israel; Obama’s commitment to the Jewish People is subject to political whims.

Item 3. Palin recognizes that she still has remedial work to do. Amidst the shuck and jive from the MSM her remarkable accomplishments in Alaska were left by the wayside. Most politicians would have allowed the status quo to remain, thinking no doubt that it’s impossible to rehabilitate history with soundbites and 30 second commercials. Coming soon to a theater near you: The Undefeated. And who figured it out? Madison Avenue? A million dollar political roundtable? Nope, Sarah Heath Palin, idiot.

Palin is right on the issues of course, but that is seldom a product of intelligence. Ideology descends from childhood prejudices, and smart people from both sides of the spectrum more often than not simply construct a mental flow chart that undergird their desires. Obama is not stupid, stupid people cannot read from a teleprompter so convincingly.

And Palin isn’t stupid either. In fact, the smartest thing she ever did was to be born into a family that taught her traditional American values like rugged individualism, honesty, and courage. That is Sarah’s real secret weapon, her values. The intelligence thing can no longer be hidden.
