Obese man sues fast food chain over seats

A grossly overweight man is suing a New York fast food chain because he cannot fit into the seats at their restaurants.

Martin Kessman, who weighs 130kg, filed a lawsuit against White Castle last week, two years after he initially complained about the uncomfortable booths.

The 64-year-old is claiming the seats violate the civil rights of fat people, pregnant women and disabled people, Fox New York reports.

"I just want to sit down like a normal person," he said.

After he complained two years ago, White Castle responded by sending two "very condescending letters", which included details on how they planned to renovate their booths.

The head office also gave him coupons for free hamburgers, although Mr Kessman noted in his lawsuit that the "cheese was extra".

Mr Kessman claims he can fit into the seats at other fast food restaurants and on aeroplanes.
