Flashback: Obama in July, 2011 – “Short term…we’re going to need to produce all the oil we can.”

2.27.12

He said it, but I don’t think he meant it:

In the short term we need to increase safe and responsible oil production here at home to meet out current energy needs. And even those who are proponents of shifting away from fossil fuels have to acknowledge that we’re not going to suddenly replace oil throughout the economy. We’re going to need to produce all the oil we can.

Domestic oil production has gone up but only because of private (and state) oil exploration and development. In the one area he has actual control–federal lands–gas and oil production have dropped 11% and 14% respectively.

What happened to a short term strategy of producing all we can?
