NewsBusters:

Catching up with an unintentionally funny moment from Tuesday night’s (March 13) Republican primary coverage, MSNBC political analyst Karen Finney, who was off-camera at the moment, noticeably exhaled and then loudly groaned “ugghh!” upon hearing the exit poll determined a plurality of women in Alabama voted for Rick Santorum. Video below.

A few minutes earlier she had bemoaned how “this women’s vote really hurts me” and that the she found the female preference for Santorum “painful.”

Her loud exhale and groan came about 10:45 PM EDT, during Last Call with Lawrence O’Donnell. The other guest, left-wing “SiriusXM Left” host Mark Thompson, noted 49 percent of “working women” backed Santorum. Then, eliciting the groan, Thompson pointed out “it looks like all women went with Santorum – 37 percent of women.” (Since revised to 38%)

Check out the video to hear the visceral reaction from Finney (Politico bio for her), a veteran Democratic operative who has worked to advance the policies of Hillary Clinton and Howard Dean:

Thompson was in the middle of a liberal exposition:

What is amazing to me is that not only do 49 percent of working women go with Santorum, but Karen it looks like all women went with Santorum – 37 percent of women, the majority of men went with Gingrich. So, one of the great questions – the great mysteries – I want to have answered when I get to the pearly gates is not only where do socks go in the dryer, but why women are Republicans and why people vote against their own interests in that party.

That came seconds after Thompson accused Santorum of racism in “coded” language, which was detailed in Brad Wilmouth’s post: “MSNBC’s O’Donnell Accepts Guest’s Bizarre Claim of Racist ‘Coded Message’ from Santorum.
