Police: Rule smelled of "intoxicating beverages"
Herbert Rule (Washington County Sheriff's Office)

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - A Democratic congressional candidate in Arkansas has been arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after he was pulled over in Fayetteville.
Herb Rule was released from the Washington County jail early Friday morning after he was arrested on charges of improper lane use, failure to use signal device, DWI and violation of the implied consent law.
Rule denied he was drunk and said he'll fight the charges.
Fayetteville police say an officer pulled over Rule after seeing his car drift between lanes and traveling below the speed limit. The police report said the officer smelled the odor of "intoxicating beverages" coming from Rule and his vehicle. Police say Rule failed a field sobriety test but refused to take a blood alcohol test.
Rule is challenging Republican Congressman, U.S. Representative, Tim Griffin.
Rule and his campaign did not immediately return calls Friday morning.
