Suspect's blood alcohol content twice legal limit, police say

YORK COUNTY, Pa. -- A woman in York County was arrested after she jumped into the swift moving Codorus Creek so she could "save the wild ducks," according to police.
Justina Laniewski, 41, whose blood alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit, went into the creek and her toddler started to follow her, Southern Regional Police said.
A neighbor grabbed the child and firefighters rescued Laniewski from the neck-high water, police said.
"The female needed to be rescued because of the fast turbulent water and placed several of Glen Rock firefighters in danger due to her recklessness," a police news release stated.
Laniewski feared the 20 to 30 ducks would be hurt or killed because of Hurricane Sandy, police said. She is charged with risking catastrophe and other offenses.
