Police: Man, 27, shoots self in groin
Gun fires during robbery attempt, police say
HARRISBURG, Pa. — A 27-year-old man shot himself in the groin in Harrisburg early Wednesday during a robbery attempt, according to police.
Officers were called to the 900 block of North Third Street about 1:25 a.m. Wednesday, police said.
Police said the victim told them a robber approached him from behind while he was walking to his car and demanded valuables.
The victim grabbed a gun from his waistband and it fired, police said. He was taken to Penn State Hershey Medical Center.
Drug paraphernalia was found in the man's clothing, police said.
