Snowden Possibly to Remain in Russia - WikiLeaks

06/26/2013

MOSCOW, June 26 - The whistleblowing organization WikiLeaks said on its Twitter feed on Wednesday that former CIA employee Edward Snowden, wanted by the United States for leaking state secrets, may be permanently stuck in Russia.

“Cancelling Snowden's passport and bullying intermediary countries may keep Snowden permanently in Russia,” WikiLeaks said on its Twitter feed, but did not specify the names of intermediary countries.

The United States has issued a warrant for Snowden’s arrest on charges of leaking details of a US surveillance program and cancelled his US passport, which Washington says should prevent him from traveling internationally.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday that Snowden, whose whereabouts had been the subject of international speculation for the past two days, was in the transit area of a Moscow airport.

WikiLeaks earlier said that its representative Sarah Harrison accompanied Snowden on a plane from Hong Kong to Moscow on Sunday.
