Candidate Says He Was Assaulted By Campus Safety Officers

Cuffed, detained after taking photos, offering cards

Scotty Boman, a candidate for Detroit City Clerk who has been active with the Libertarian Party of Michigan, says he was assaulted and wounded by the Wayne County Community College District (WCCCD) campus public safety officers. His crime? Taking photographs of his opponent’s (and current city clerk, Janice Winfrey) signage at the early voting location at the Northwest Campus polling station of WCCCD on Tuesday, July 30th.

One of his photographs shows a Winfrey banner hanging over the entrance of the voting location’s building entrance, which is contrary to election laws.
