Authorities are currently searching for up to 100 immigrants that fled a stash house in Alton after a water supply company employee was checking meters in the area.
Authorities took 40 illegal immigrants from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras into custody Tuesday afternoon.
The employee was checking the meters near the 600 block of glasscock when 50 to 100 immigrants burst out of the stash house.
Police believe that the immigrants panicked and thought the trailer home was going to be raided because of the yellow lights from the employee's vehicle.
Department of Public Safety (DPS), Hidalgo County Sheriff's Department and Border Patrol were called to the scene.
A helicopter from DPS assisted in finding the illegal immigrants.
No injuries were reported from the incident and all illegal immigrants are adults.
The trailer home is a known stash house and has been busted before, according to authorities.
The illegal immigrants that are from Central America are currently in custody of Border Patrol.
