Border Fail: Man claims hallucination in abuse case

01.27.2014

DALLAS, TX (AP) -- Police say a Dallas man is claiming he hallucinated and heard a voice during at least one incident in which he allegedly injured his infant son.
The Dallas Morning News reports 19-year-old Ralph Resendiz has been charged with first-degree felony injury to a child.
Authorities say Resendiz's son had suffered a broken rib and multiple breaks in both legs.
Police say Resendiz, arrested Friday, told detectives of several incidents this month in which he had hurt the child at their home
Authorities say Resendiz told investigators that during one incident, he hallucinated and heard his girlfriend's voice telling him to "stop neglecting" his son. According to court records, Resendiz then became angry and squeezed his son's ribs with both hands.
The child is being treated at a Dallas hospital.
