Illinois Thug Tactics Shocker: AG investigating Sallie Mae and other student loan collectors

02/24/2014

The massive student loan debt in America has now reached a staggering $1.2 trillion. Some students wonder if they’ll ever pay it off.
Now the tactics of loan companies and their debt collectors are making it even tougher and the Illinois Attorney General is fighting back. The Attorney General is going after Sallie Mae, a corporation that originates more than $180 billion in debt, typically college loans to millions of students.
For years, critics have questioned the way those loans are managed and the debts are collected.
If you have a complaint about the way your student loan is being handled, you can file a report with the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Offices in both Illinois and Missouri.
