WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — A school bus monitor in Waterloo has been accused of assaulting an 11-year-old student during an altercation.
Police said 56-year-old Sandra Ann Shelby was arrested Monday on suspicion of causing bodily injury.
After the bus unloaded Friday, police said the boy tried to push and punch Shelby. Shelby then pushed her thumbs into his eyes. Police said the boy suffered minor injuries.
According to court records, the boy had been disciplined for causing a disturbance with another student on the bus.
Durham Bus Services, which employs Shelby, said she has been placed on administrative leave.
