Stupid Idiots: Woman, boyfriend charged after local fast-food worker shot with Nerf dart

02.14.2014

(KMOV) – A woman and her boyfriend face assault charges after she allegedly shot a worker with a Nerf gun in the drive-thru of a Fenton fast-food restaurant. And it was all caught on camera.
Stephanie Winkler, 22, and Mark Applebaum, 26, were both charged with third-degree assault.
The incident happened at the Lion’s Choice on Gravois Bluffs Blvd.
According to police, Applebaum drove a black SUV into the drive-thru, but didn’t order anything and pulled up to the window.
Surveillance video shows Winkler then shot the worker with a yellow Nerf dart.
“The Nerf dart strikes her. Nobody was injured in this case but if it hits an eye or something an injury could result from this,” said St. Louis County Police Officer Brian Schellman.
A physical injury does not have to occur for assault charges to be filed. The presence of fear alone can institute a third-degree assault charge, which is punishable by one to 15 days in jail and a $300 fine.
Both suspects are due in court on April 14.
