Jobs cut; unemployment increases

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — West Virginia’s unemployment rate climbed slightly to six percent in February according to Workforce West Virginia.
The state agency announced Tuesday the number of unemployed state residents rose by 500 last month to 47,400 with total employment down 6,900 this fiscal year.
Mining and logging employment took the biggest hit in February with 300 jobs lost.
