Child sex abuse suspect accused of molesting at least 3 little girls

Sgt. Lupita Valdez with the Alamo Police Department said sex abuse cases against children are unfortunately not uncommon here in the Rio Grande Valley.
"We see it more often than we would want to. We wish we didn't have to work cases like this, but it’s up there. The degree of importance is up there as a homicide, as if someone took a life," explained Sgt. Valdez.
Sex crimes have a lifelong impact on their victims. Just days ago,  Jose Rosalio Loza was arrested at his apartment near Nebraska and Alamo Rd. Documents obtained by Action4 News state that Loza molested three young children under the age of six.
"This individual lived in an apartment complex so that’s another issue that we have to look into as law enforcement,” explained Sgt. Valdez, “We look at his surroundings, if he had access to other children."
The three little girls said Loza inappropriately touched them under their clothing. One of the girls even told investigators she asked Loza to stop, but he continued to touch her private area. Court documents also reveal Loza threatened the victim that "he would not buy her anything if she told anyone."
Police are urging parents to talk to their children.
"It is so important to talk to kids about improper touches and uncomfortable touches and their body parts, correct body parts. It’s very important because I would pinpoint it on this certain victim that knew it was an improper touch and alerted mom right away," said Sgt. Valdez.
By effectively communicating what is right and wrong, police believe children will come forward sooner. In this case, police do not believe the molestation went on for long, but they fear other victims may still be out there.
“It’s the unknown which worries us, it does not mean that he has not victimized in the past if he's not convicted of an offense like that."
Loza faces three counts of indecency with a child and is being held on a $210,000 bond.
