Sylvania Lighting Services closes S.A. branch

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio branch of light maker Sylvania Lighting Services was closed as part of its parent company's move to shed more than 900 jobs in the United States.
The facility, located near Vance Jackson Road and Loop 1604, closed in late February, a company spokesman said. In all, about 35 employees lost their jobs. Affected workers were offered severance benefits.
A handful of employees landed jobs with subcontractors the company partnered with.
The parent company, German light maker Osram Licht AG, announced in September that it would shed 900 jobs as part of its restructuring.
The Sylvania Lighting Services' main location in Texas will remain in Dallas.
