A 23-year-old man remained in custody Thursday afternoon following his arrest on attempted sexual assault charges.
A 23-year-old man remained in custody Thursday afternoon following his arrest on attempted sexual assault charges.
Brownville police said Nesto Vido is accused of trying to sexually assault the 17-year-old daughter of his girlfriend.
The incident happened early Thursday morning at the 500 block of Villa Maria.
Police spokesman J.J. Treviño said officers went to the residence after receiving a call of a possible sexual assault in progress.
The call was made by the teenager who claimed Vido got on top of her while she was trying to sleep, according to police. She said he walked into the bedroom — clad in his underwear — and locked the bedroom door and got on top of her, Treviño said.
The teenager told authorities she managed to push him off and call police because she feared for her safety.
Vido was arrested and charged. His bond is pending.
