Sexually abusing teenage girl lands Hidalgo County man behind bars

A Hidalgo County man is behind bars under $500,000 bond after being accused of sexually abusing a teenage girl.

Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested Yonic Tellez on an aggravated sexual assault of a child charge on Wednesday.

Court records released to Action 4 News show that the 20-year-old is accused of sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl several times back in September.

The records show that the allegations came to light in May.

Hidalgo County Justice of the Peace Charlie Espinoza signed an arrest warrant back for Tellez on May 30th.

Deputies arrested Tellez on Wednesday.

The 20-year-old remains in custody at the Hidalgo County Jail under a $500,000 bond and an immigration detainer.
