Florida Media Cite Far-Left MSNBC as Objective National Press

Florida’s press revealed its out-of-touch liberal bias this week by citing far-left MSNBC host Rachel Maddow as an objective national political commentator.
Maddow and MSNBC were quoted as authoritative sources of objective political commentary in Tampa Bay Times / Miami Herald coverage attempting to derail November gubernatorial frontrunner Rick Scott’s political momentum.
In an article titled, “Rick Scott’s nonanswers bring national ridicule,” Times/Heraldwriter Steve Bousquet claimed Scott’s preference for talking about jobs and the Florida economy rather than marginal liberal causes and frivolous ethics charges filed by Democratic Party officials had “gone viral” in a negative way.
As proof, Bousquet cited Maddow mocking Scott by awarding him a “canned response” award.
MSNBC is the left’s attempted answer to Fox News, although Fox News is much closer to the nation’s political center than little-watched MSNBC. Even the Pew Research Center has acknowledged that MSNBC coverage is far more opinionated than Fox News.
Maddow has earned a reputation as being perhaps the farthest left of MSNBC’s leftist stable of political commentators.
Attempting to bail out his co-worker Bousquet, Times/Herald writer Marc Caputo wrote a follow-up article noting that liberal CNN host Anderson Cooper also complained about Scott focusing on Florida jobs rather than Democrats’ preferred talking points.
Bousquet and Caputo quoting Maddow and Cooper as evidence of “national ridicule” of Gov. Scott is comparable to conservative writers citing criticism of Charlie Crist or Barack Obama by Sean Hannity or Tucker Carlson. Although Maddow and Cooper are national commentators, it’s ridiculous to suggest that either of them reflect mainstream America.
