Immigration Policy Failure: Trial begins in Texas for Mexican illegal linked to "El Gallo" drug trafficking organization

Jurors heard their first day of testimony for a man named in a drug trafficking case where other suspects are linked to former Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Treviño.
Omar Fidencio Rojas appeared before U.S. District Court Judge Randy Crane in McAllen for the first day of his jury trial on Monday morning.
Prosecutors called four witnesses to the stand on Monday.
Rojas is accused of being one of 12 men linked to a Weslaco-based drug trafficking and money laundering organization belong to Tomas "El Gallo" Gonzalez.
Gonzalez gave thousands of dollars to former Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Treviño, who was sentenced to five years in federal prison last week.
Eleven suspects in the case, including Gonzalez and former Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office Commander Joe Padilla, all pleaded guilty and are expected to be sentenced on September 18th.
Testimony in the trial for Rojas is expected to continue on Tuesday morning and last through the end of the week.
If convicted, Rojas could face life in prison.
