An Albuquerque Public Schools teacher accused of being inappropriate toward at least two students has been cleared to return to class for the 2014-2015 school year.
A mother who says her daughter reported being harassed by the teacher says APS never told them what happened with the investigation, and she worries APS isn’t being open with other parents either.
Angela Sepulveda spoke with KOB Eyewitness News 4 in May, after her daughter told school officials a teacher was treating her inappropriately. In May, the teacher was given several days of leave while APS police investigated. School let out for the summer and Sepulveda says APS never contacted her again.
“My reaction? Upset, cause APS didn't do what they're supposed to do, they're just brushing it under the rug, obviously, pushing it under the rug if he's going back to work,” Sepulveda said.
APS says that they did a proper investigation and that the teacher was cleared to go back to work. The teacher was never criminally charged.
Sepulveda stands by her daughter’s story and doesn’t think the teacher should return, but if he is coming back, she thinks APS should let parents know and set the story straight.
