The Ontario County (N.Y.) Sheriff's Department is investigating a Saturday night incident at Canandaigua Motorsports Park involving NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Tony Stewart.

Social media reports from journalists indicate that Stewart's car made contact with driver Kevin Ward Jr. during a dirt-track racing event. Ward was out of his vehicle at the time.
Ward's condition is not available at this time.
Tyler Graves, a sprint-car racer and friend of Ward's, told The Sporting News that he was sitting in the Turn 1 grandstands when the incident occurred.
"Tony pinched him into the frontstretch wall, a racing thing," Graves told The Sporting News."The right rear tire went down, he spun on the exit of (Turn) 2. They threw the caution and everything was toned down. Kevin got out of his car. … He was throwing his arms up all over the place at Tony for most of the corner. I know Tony could see him. I know how you can see out of these cars."
According to the biography on Ward's website, he is "just 17 years old and he is the pilot of the Rider Racing Engines Powered #13 360 Sprint Car. He has had racing in his blood for all 17 years of his young life."
Jim Utter of The Charlotte Observer reported that Ward's age is now 20.
On its Facebook page, Canandaigua Motorsports Park posted the following statement at about 1 a.m.: "Canandaigua Motorspots Park will not have an official statement on the accident that happened in the ESS race until tomorrow. Please pray for the entire racing community of fans, drivers, and families. Please be respectful in any comments."
