The West Borough Baptist Church nearly made a journey to Iraq to protest against IS, after taking up an offer from comedian Adam Hills to fly the anti-gay hate group to the war torn country.
The Australian comic made his pledge on his show The Last Leg, on Channel 4 last Friday after the church vowed to picket the funeral of Robin Williams, who they labelled a ‘fag pimp’.
He told members of the controversial church to ‘put your money where your mouth is’ and offered to fly them to Iraq so they could protest against the killing of Christians by Islamic State militants.
‘I’ll even fly them first class and pay the carbon offset,’ he said.
On last night’s show Hills informed viewers that since making the announcement he has been contacted by many people who say they will contribute money towards flying West Borough Baptist Church members to Iraq.
However after a week of WBC attacking Hills and posting abusive images directed at Muslims on Twitter, he opted to take the high road and decided instead to donate all the money raised for the flights to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a charity Robin Williams was a supporter of.
The comedian said he wanted to ‘spread love instead of hate’ through the donation, which was made in the name of the late actor.
