Federal forces clashed with suspects and broke up a Los Zetas cartel training center, which operated in a town of Veracruz.

During the shootout, three alleged Zetas were killed and training camp another 33 were captured.

In the wee hours of Monday, security forces of the three levels of government, discovered, took control of and dismantled a training center operated by Zetas.  The aftermath left 3 killed, and 33 others detained.

A statement of the State Government reported that the event was recorded in the Rancho San Pedro, Colonia Emiliano Zapata, in the town of Acultzingo

“As a result of intelligence work among members of the Ministry of Public Security (SSP) state, the Mexican Army and Secretary of the Navy of Mexico (Semar),   a training center of  (Zetas) organized crime was located, operating in the Rancho San Pedro, Colonia Emiliano Zapata, in the town of Acultzingo, which led to the arrest of 33 members of a cartel.

During the confrontation, three other members of the criminal organization were killed, while on he part of the police there were no casualties or injuries.”

In addition, it is reported that elements of the Municipal Police Acultzingo, did not show up for work as scheduled on Monday, in fear of being arrested. In drug trafficking areas,  municipalities are notoriously corrupt, including police,  and designated to protect cartels.

In the Rancho San Pedro,  firearms, body armor and equipment used in the training elements of an organized crime group was discovered.

Similar camps have been located in other parts of Veracruz and other states such as Coahuila and Tamaulipas.
