Communist Leader/UN Chief Ban Ki Moon And Leonardo DiCaprio On Streets For "People's Climate March"

9/21/2014

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio will join the Peoples' Climate March today, ahead of a United Nations climate summit due in New York on Tuesday.
More than 2,000 people marches through the streets of Manhattan as a part of global protest, ahead of a United Nations summit on climate change.
The People's Climate March has been carefully organised to show that there is popular support for action to curb carbon emissions.
Ban's Climate Summit, which takes place on September 23, will also tackle the issue with 125 heads of state and government at UN headquarters.
In the gathering, the leaders would announce their visions and commitments for reaching a universal and meaningful climate agreement in 2015, as well as make announcements on actions that will reduce emissions, enhance resistance to climate change and mobilize financing for climate action.
On Saturday, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon designated Leonardo DiCaprio as the UN Messenger of Peace, who he has hailed as the world body's "new voice for climate advocacy."
