War On NFL Update: Prosecutor seeks arrest of Adrian Peterson for drug use

10/9/2014

A prosecutor in Texas is seeking the arrest of Minnesota Vikings star Adrian Peterson after he admitted to smoking a "little weed" Wednesday when submitting to a drug test, according to court records obtained by USA TODAY Sports.
The issue relates to the conditions of his $15,000 bond while free on a felony child abuse charge. Peterson submitted to a urinalysis Wednesday and admitted to an employee of the drug-testing agency that he "smoked a little weed."
"In light of this statement, and the fact that it was made during the urinalysis testing process, and the term 'weed' is a common slang term for marijuana, the state argues that the defendant has smoked marijuana while free on bond for the current offense," the Montgomery County District Attorney's office wrote.
The prosecutor is asking a judge to set aside Peterson's bond and order his arrest.
Peterson's attorney, Rusty Hardin, didn't immediately respond to message seeking comment.
The issue could be complicated by the fact that the prosecutor is seeking to have the current judge removed in the child abuse case, with a hearing scheduled for Friday morning.
