Immigration News: Three arrested after 100+ MPH Chase

12/27/2014

Three men are behind bars after they led police from South Padre Island to Laguna Vista clocking in at speeds over 100 MPH.
The pursuit happened Christmas morning when South Padre Island police attempted to stop a vehicle.
That’s when the driver sped off over the Queen Isabella Causeway and down Highway 100.
Port Isabel police were then called for backup as the chase continued towards Laguna Vista.
Police said the driver reached speeds over 100 mph before crashing into a fence belonging to an owner of a home.
The driver and two passengers then ran out of the car in an attempt to flee, according to police documents.
The two passengers were taken down by police officers.
The driver was then located at a nearby Stripes by Cameron County Sheriff’s deputies.
The driver, Christian Enrique Lopez and two passengers Blas Ornelas and Luis Garcia are currently in custody.
The crash also caused damage to the property owner’s water meter.
