No Bribes Here: Former Bayern Munich President Returns to Prison after Christmas Home Leave

12/27/2014

BERLIN – Former FC Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness, who was sentenced to three-and-a-half years behind bars last March for tax evasion, returned to prison on Friday after enjoying a short Christmas home leave which he was allowed to spend with his family.

Hoeness, 62, arrived home on Christmas Eve in a vehicle driven by his wife. It was the first night he had spent at his residence since entering prison on June 2.

The method through which he managed to obtain the permission was not disclosed.

Hoeness had already left his cell for a few hours in September to meet with his family.

Next year, he is expected to be granted permission to leave prison in the mornings to go to work and return to his cell at nights.
