Four known gang members are facing aggravated assault charges after their gangs joined forces for a drive by shooting against a juvenile.
Elsa police arrested the following men:
- Juan Carranza, 22, Tri-City Bombers
- Rudy Carranza, 17, Tri-City Bombers
- Luis Ramirez, 17 , Latin Kings
- Julian Castillo, 18, Latin Kings
The shooting happened last week in Elsa when Juan Carranza saw the victim walking on the 150 block of Valle Vista Drive to pick up his girlfriend from school.
Elsa police told Action 4 News that Juan then picked up his brother Rudy, and Latin King members Luis and Julian.
Police said the group then gathered together in a vehicle and attempted to do a drive by shooting at the victim.
The group caught up to the juvenile on 9th Street and that’s when the group fired shots.
Police said the juvenile was able to run and hide into a grassy field after he saw a brown rifle from the car.
Authorities arrested the four men for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Investigators said the four gang members are working together against the Chicano Brotherhood.
The victim told police that he does not have any ties to gangs in the Elsa area, but police said Ramirez was shot at a week before in a drive by.
Investigators are looking into the juvenile’s connection in the drive by shooting.
All four men were given a $15,000 bond.
Castillo and Ramirez remain behind bars at the Hidalgo County Jail.
Ramirez has an ICE Detainer.
The Carranza brothers were bonded out of jail Friday.
