Bono Says He Might Never Play Guitar Again

1/3/2015

LONDON – Bono, the lead singer of the legendary Irish band U2, fears he might never be able to play guitar again after a bike accident in November, according to a post on the band’s official website Friday.

Bono, 54, severely injured his arm in an accident in New York while riding his bicycle.

The Irish musician said he does not remember how it happened, adding that the “recovery has been more difficult than I thought.”

“As I write this, it is not clear that I will ever play guitar again. The band have reminded me that neither they nor Western civilization are depending on this,” Bono said.

Bono, who is very interested in fighting poverty in Africa, added that the accident helped him to realize that he is not an “armored vehicle.”

“The consequences of this freak accident are significant enough that I will have to concentrate hard to be ready for the U2 tour in fitness terms,” he concluded.
