A beautiful, serene golf course is flanked by family homes in the Meadow Creek Golf Club in Mission, but there's more than meets the eye.
"It's usuallly late at night or early in the morning," Jose Hazan said.
He has lived in the country club for nine years and says this area is not just a place to relax and exercise.
"There's always people biking and jogging, there's a trail here and this is a golf course so there's people on golf carts coming across," he said.
But right beneath a low water bridge on River Bend Road is where illegal immigrants hide out.
"You'll see their head popping up alot of times when you're crossing the bridge because they think it's their pick up.Sometimes I'll see four or five cars parked here just loading up people and taking off," Hazansaid.
Hazan said the number of people seeking refuge under this bridge has increased dramaticallly and so has the age and gender of the immigrants.
"Now I'm seeing more women and childen by themselves. They're more desperate now you can see that they're dehydrated.
They come out of hiding sometimes Jose says knock on his door for water.
"I feel bad for the people coming across," Hazan said.
If he isn't home to give them a drink, they take it themselves from the water faucet outside his home
Golfers just spending the day here are oblivious to what happens when the sun goes down but Jose says Border Patrol knows all about this spot.
"I've never seen the helicopter here as much as I do now, and I've never seen them on horseback until now. They're on horseback and on four wheelers," Hazan said.
He hasn't had to call police because agents are here daily chasing the new group who came in, and he doesn't expect it to change.
"I don't feel threatened I don't have any problems. but the activity that's increased in such a short amount of time is concerning," Hazan told Action 4 News.
