A Harlingen man is behind bars after he allegedly beat a woman while they were driving.
The alleged beating happened Saturday morning before 3:30 a.m. on Expressway 77 and Bass Boulevard.
The victim told police that while she was driving, Santos Silva slapped her neck.
Throughout the drive, 32-year-old Silva punched the right side of the victim’s head so hard that her glasses were knocked off from her face.
Harlingen police said that the victim began to bleed from her ear.
While officers were speaking with Silva, they said there was blood on his left hand.
Police arrested the Harlingen resident for assault family/violence.
He was then taken to the Harlingen City Jail.
Silva’s bond was set at $5,000.
