The Tyrant’s Tyrants – EPA Gives Away A Town And The Townspeople’s Rights and Property Along With It

11/18/2014

We Americans have long assumed and taken for granted that the boundaries established by the various treaties and agreements of the United States are pretty much set in concrete. We have also apparently been mistakenly under the perception that we have property rights. While that might have been true in the past, individual property is frowned upon in the new socialist collective.
The concrete foundation of our nation is under attack on all fronts and the individual property rights of American citizens can now be added to an endangered list as an enemy of the socialist regime. The now familiar apparatus for the application of government mob muscle was once again the EPA. They are inserting themselves as the deciders of who owns what and just what they can do with it.
The 10,000 American citizens who lived in Riverton, WY are experiencing firsthand the nightmare of being in the EPA cross hairs. They found themselves, through no fault of their own, no longer living in Wyoming, but on an Indian reservation. Their property rights are now up subject to re-determination and may or may not be theirs any longer. These are regular folks, individual property owners, business owners and every day citizens whose lives have now been turned upside down by a rogue, out of control federal wealth re-distributor.
Congress ruled and established the boundaries in 1905, a time before anyone envisioned the creation of the omnipotent EPA. This ordeal has been unfolding over the last year, at a time when the EPA was acting with relative impunity, protected by Harry Reid’s black hole legislative policy. Now that Republicans will be in control of both chambers of Congress, correcting this type of abuse is high on the “to do” lists of many legislators.
Wyoming Governor Matt Mead (R) is angry and has vowed to ignore their declaration as well as promising a court challenge.  He said, “My deep concern is about an administrative agency of the federal government altering a state’s boundary and going against over 100 years of history and law. This should be a concern to all citizens because, if the EPA can unilaterally take land away from a state, where will it stop?”
As part of an application for funding for air quality monitoring under the Clean Air Act, Riverton was declared by The EPA to be part of the Wind River Indian Reservation. In granting that “Treatment as a State” application the EPA arbitrarily overruled the United States Congress.
We all know that Congress and Congressional authority is not respected by the Obama regime. In this instance, a mere regulatory agency, created by Congress, took it upon themselves usurp the authority of their creator.
They granted the tribe’s claim that the Wind River Reservation actually encompassed an additional one million acres beyond what was established in the 1905 act by Congress. The town of Riverton is located within that one million acres.
The decision not only raises ownership concerns for individuals, but the areas are technically no longer eligible to receive government services nor are they subject to taxation by various state and local agencies. The governor has order that state and local agencies and service providers continue to operate in their customary manner for the time being.
State Senator Leland Christensen said, “This is an alarming action when you have a federal agency step in and start to undo congressional acts that has really been our history for 108 years … with the stroke of a pen without talking to the biggest groups impacted,  and that would be the city of Riverton and the state of Wyoming.”
Wyoming Senators Mike Enzi and John Barrasso as well as Rep Cynthia Lummis, all Republicans, wrote to the EPA, expressing their concerns, “The EPA’s decision has in effect overturned a law that has been governing land and relationships for more than 100 years. We are also very concerned about the political ramifications this decision could have for the tribes and the state of Wyoming.”
It is no surprise that the Obama regime would target a red state in this manner.
