"I CAN'T BREATHE" UPDATE: Violating protective order, strangling woman lands immigrant in jail

An Edinburg man is facing charges after he allegedly choked his ex-girlfriend during an argument.
The alleged assault happened Tuesday at the 1000 block of Wisconsin Road in Edinburg.
Edinburg police told Action 4 News that Eduardo Cedillo went to the woman’s home, and began fighting over her cell phone.
During the argument, Cedillo grabbed her neck with both of her hands.
The 44-year-old continued to strangle the victim to the point where she fell to the floor.
Police said the woman had a protective order against Cedillo.
Cedillo was arrested for assault family/house member impede breath and a violation of protective order charge.
Police said since Cedillo choked the woman to the point that she couldn’t breathe and violated the protective order, which is a felony charge.
An Edinburg judge set a total bond of $35,000 for Cedillo.
He still remains behind bars at the Hidalgo County Jail.
