The “hands up” gesture by five Rams players on Sunday has caused one St. Louis bar to switch allegiances to the Chiefs.
The Time Out Sports Bar & Grill on Monday posted on Facebook that it would no longer support the Rams by having happy hour during games or using Rams pictures and signs for decorations. The post has already gotten more than 42,000 likes and nearly 10,000 shares.
“Due to the bone headed “hands up, don’t shoot” act by the number of Rams players on the Sunday game the Time Out Bar & Grill will no longer support the St Louis Rams, so we will no longer have Happy hours for the Rams games and all signs and pictures will be off the walls,” the post said.
A later post said: “We are jumping ship! Bye bye Rams , hello Kansas City Chiefs!
“Happy hour will proceed for all Chief's Games!”
The gesture by the Rams players in support of the protests in Ferguson, Mo., and other cities also angered the St. Louis Police Officers Association.
St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar wrote in an email to his staff that Rams executive Kevin Demoff had apologized on behalf of the team, a claim Demoff later denied.
