EVERY day for up to ten minutes near the London Stock Exchange, someone blocks signals from the global positioning system (GPS) network of satellites. Navigation systems in cars stop working and timestamps on trades made in financial institutions can be affected. The incidents are not a cyber-attack by a foreign power, though. The most likely culprit, according to Charles Curry, whose firm Chronos Technology covertly monitors such events, is a delivery driver dodging his bosses’ attempts to track him.

The states' job is to protect the people

Black’s Law Dictionary defines Interposition as,

“The doctrine that a state, in the exercise of its sovereignty, may reject a mandate of the federal government deemed to be unconstitutional or to exceed the powers delegated to the federal government”

This sounds foreign to most of us as we’ve been conditioned to believe that federal law trumps all. Clearly, the first generation of Americans asserted the fact that the people retain all rights and the federal government has limited powers, in the Ninth and 10th Amendments:

The enumeration in the Constitution of certain rights shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or the people.

The Constitution has been impotent in restraining government and protecting the rights of the People. When the federal overreach occurs, it is the duty of state government to interpose.

One of the most famous examples is Sheriff Richard Mack’s lawsuit against the federal government after the Brady Act was passed. Sheriff Mack of Graham County Arizona, refused to enforce the unconstitutional provisions of the Act and was forced to sue the federal government – he won.

Obama Admin Quietly Releases Taliban Inmates From Gitmo To Open Peace Talks In Afghanistan

(Breitbart) - Without an official announcement or any publicity, the Obama administration released five members of the Taliban from Gitmo in order to open peace talks in Afghanistan.

Ynetnews.com reports that "a top U.S. official said the prisoners were released under the condition that they will not engage in any violent activity."

The terror activity of those released is not in question. Rather, their release is intended as a gesture to get peace talks rolling between the U.S., Afghanistan, and the Taliban.

Although this release is a stark departure from the standing U.S. policy of "zero tolerance [of] negotiations with terrorists and releasing of prisoners," Obama's State Department has may have found a loophole via their reluctance to define the Taliban as a terror group as of late.

One thing is for certain--the more prisoners Obama can release from Gitmo in a piecemeal fashion the quicker he can justify asking Congress to cut off funding for the prison altogether.

Obama Administration's Gun Running Update: Are American weapons being used by jihadists in the Sinai?

Since the ouster of Mohammed Morsi from the presidency of Egypt on July 3, there has been a noticeable uptick in the number of attacks against security personnel and installations in the Sinai Peninsula. Eight army checkpoints were attacked on Monday alone, according to Ma'an News Agency.

New claims from Egypt's Interior Ministry suggest that in an attack over the weekend, a US-made missile may have been fired by militants at a security installation in el Arish.


The Times of Israel reports:

Jihadists attacked the Egyptian security headquarters in northern Sinai ostensibly using an American-made ballistic missile, Egypt's interior ministry said early Monday morning.

In a statement posted on its official Facebook page, the ministry said the missile, which it said was made by the US, hit the third floor of the building in the city of el-Arish on Sunday evening, injuring three soldiers.

Along with its statement, the Interior Ministry released three photos of the alleged missile, which appears to be labeled as an AGM-114F.

Congressman's former aide gets house arrest in tax case

A former top aide to U.S. Rep. Chaka Fattah was sentenced Monday to four months of house arrest and three years' probation for failing to pay taxes on $264,000 she earned as a taxpayer-funded consultant.

Cheryl Mobley, 55, blamed her crimes on the stress of an abusive and disintegrating marriage, and her lawyer argued that she suffered from mental health problems. A skeptical prosecutor called the claims "shallow, false excuses" and said anyone facing prison would be anxious and depressed.

But U.S. District Judge Joel H. Slomsky said he was struck by Mobley's "bizarre" responses during a hearing last year and seemed swayed by a doctor's report that she had made progress in therapy. "I don't see the need for full-time incarceration," he said.

She did not explain how, which is hardly surprising, since George Zimmerman's defense was not based on the absence of a duty to retreat for people attacked in public places. CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: I find it astonishing that he goes around making speeches in which he deplores the state of the economy, the growing income inequality, chronic unemployment, staggering middle class income, and it's as if he has been a bystander, as if he's been out of the country for the last five years. He's talking as if this is the Bush economy, I don't know, the Eisenhower economy, and he just arrived in a boat and he discovers how bad the economy is. This is a result of the policies he instituted. He gave us the biggest stimulus in the history of the milky way, and he said it would jump start the economy. The result has been the slowest recovery, the worst recovery since World War II, and that is the root of all of the problems he's talking about, the income inequality -- the median income of the middle class of Americans has declined by 5% in his one term. So who's responsible for that? Those were his policies. He talks about this in the abstract and he actually gets away with it in a way that I find absolutely astonishing, it's magical. Taliban launch major attack on Pakistani prison, free 300 inmates

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani Taliban disguised as policemen attacked a prison in the country's northwestern town of Dera Ismail Khan, freeing more than 300 prisoners late on Monday.

The jail officials said that several of the prisoners, four security personnel and two assailants were killed in the attack. The prison was housing at least 5000 prisoners, 250 of them hardcore militants.

Maryland Judge Wants to Outlaw Toy Guns

WBAL-TV reports that Zakia Mahasa, a master in Baltimore City’s juvenile courts, wants to crack down on the scourge of toy guns.

From the WBAL story:

“To me, doing what I do is not a question of if but when somebody is going to die. Some little child is going to die, or somebody is going to use that in the commission of a robbery. It looks that real,” Mahasa said.

[...]

“Because there is so much gun violence, I abhor the situation. Water guns, any guns, I’m serious,” one resident said.

And the juvenile master wants state legislators to act.

“If the people who are selling them don’t care enough about our kids, I think we, as a community, should force them not to sell them,” Mahasa said.

Federal law requires that toy guns have an orange tip on the barrel. That had apparently been removed on the gun the deputy sheriff saw.

New York City requires toy guns to be a different color altogether — bright blue, red or green. Maryland has no such restriction.

Zakia Mahasa is an American Muslim judge who was appointed in 1997 to preside over Circuit Court cases of Baltimore city. Zakia obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland at College Park, Maryland, and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Maryland Law School in Baltimore, Maryland. She currently practices in the Juvenile Division of the Circuit Court in Baltimore. She specializes in family law and has served as master in chancery—akin to a magistrate judge—since 1997. Zakia is a member of the National Association of Women Judges and in 2010 was honored with the Leadership in Law award.

Another bio indicates that she “became the first Muslim woman to preside over an American courtroom in 1997.”

This is Maryland, the same state that suspended a child for eating a pop tart into the shape of a gun, suspended another for making pow sounds while pointing his finger, and suspended two students for playing cops and robbers at recess..

Mob Of Teens Brutally Attack Man In Heart Of Little Italy

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A man is brutally attacked by a group of teens in Little Italy. Police say four of the attackers are in custody. Three of them are juveniles.

Monique Griego has more.

The victim was walking home from work when he was attacked near Bank and Exeter Streets. Police say the brutality of the crime is why three juveniles arrested are being charged as adults.

A brutal attack in the heart of Little Italy. Police say a man walking home from work at an area restaurant is attacked and severely beaten near Bank and Exeter Streets by a mob of at least ten teens.

Four of the alleged attackers, three of them minors, have been arrested and charged.


“It’s very upsetting because you feel suspect now. Now you see a group of kids, children, and you have to worry if they’re not going to pounce on you,” said Giovanna Blattermann, neighbor.

The assault happened in front of Giovanna Blattermann’s house. She’s also watched video of the attack–captured by her neighbors surveillance camera.

While the suspects took the man’s phone, Blattermann says that’s not what they were after.

“They beat this boy. He got up, he’d run, they beat him. He got up, he’d run, they beat him. He got up, he’d run, they beat him,” said Blattermann.

The suspects range in age from 16 to 19, but police say because of the brutality of the crime, the minors aren’t being charged lightly.

“The fact that they broke this gentleman’s jaw, the decision was made and they are going to be charged as adults,” said Sgt. Eric Kowalczyk, Baltimore City Police.

Blattermann and other neighbors believe the same mob has robbed other residents. they’re now banding together to protect their neighborhood.

“I don’t want to have to feel like at any given moment I can’t walk out of my house,” Blattermann said.

Police are continuing to follow leads and say more arrests could come.

The suspects are facing several charges, including robbery and assault.

A little-known industry built around tracking customers in and around physical stores has grown considerably over recent years and now the industry is supposedly going to regulate itself amidst privacy concerns.

Companies and the technologies they use are quite diverse, ranging from facial recognition cameras in mannequins to systems that track signals from Wi-Fi enabled smartphones.

Obama cheers 'victory' in Korean War on 60th anniversary

WASHINGTON — The US president, marking the 60th anniversary of the end of the Korean War, said Saturday the armistice that left a sharp division between the communist north and capitalist south was not a "tie" but a "victory."

Barack Obama's remarks are a counterpoint to a ceremony in Pyongyang, where North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un unveiled a renovated Korean War museum with a US-baiting centerpiece in the form of the spy ship USS Pueblo, captured in 1968.

The 1950-53 conflict essentially ended with North and South Korea occupying the same territory they held at the start, but the 1953 armistice is celebrated in the North as "Victory Day."

In his remarks Saturday at the Korean veterans memorial in Washington, Obama made the same claim for the South Korea-US side.
