CWA offers to pay union members to attend today's rally in Trenton
Here's a news item I'll bet the CWA union leaders didn't want to see in print. They're offering to pay union members to attend today's Trenton rally in support of the Wisconsin public workers.
There appears to be efforts from unions to get more members to beat the drum today in Trenton. According to an e-mail obtained by The Star-Ledger, CWA Local 1038 is preparing for the rally with boxed lunches, leaflets and ponchos because of the expected rain.
The union is also offering to reimburse wages for anyone who takes a half-day off to participate in the rally.
"You must use your own time, either vacation or AL (administrative leave), and give the local a photocopy of your paystub. Please note that the payment for lost-time wages will be mailed to you; it will not be paid tomorrow," the e-mail states.
Hey all you Tea Partiers, bring your pay stubs! Hillarity will ensue.

Obama dances while the world burns
While the Democrats are beating up John Boehner for playing a game of golf, their own fearful leader was living it up in the White House last night while the Middle East is on fire and much of America is unemployed. That’s the real rub here, that while Americans are struggling to find work at levels we haven’t seen since the Great Depression, Obama is flying all over the world whether it be to beg for the Olympics or to put up all his friends at the Taj Mahal Hotel. He claims that he identifies with the poor, yet he lives as lavish a lifestyle as he can with little to no criticism from the MSM.
Last night he held a big Motown party at the White House. Now while I am still fortunate enough to have a job, I must wonder how I’d feel if I were one of those who had run out of unemployment insurance, to see my President living it up like this especially when the prices of food and oil are going up due to many of his own policies. I imagine that I’d probably just turn the TV off in disgust. (more if your stomach can handle it)

House Republicans blasted President Barack Obama for deeming a provision of the Defense of Marriage Act unconstitutional, calling Wednesday’s decision a political stunt and a distraction from fiscal issues.

In 2008 Obama ran for president claiming that he wanted to make Washington more transparent than ever. Obama ran as the law-and-order man, he ran as the anti-lobbyist man, and he ran as the man for all the people, the great centrist that would finally work for the people. He ran saying that Bush was a lawless president and that he, Obama, would shut down the illicit Guantanamo facility and immediately end all the "illegal wars" that Bush was prosecuting.
As president we've seen that he's lied with all those claims.
One of Obama's main bogeymen has been lobbyists. He claimed that he'd purge them from Washington. But the truth was a far different thing once he fairly became president. In fact, as soon as he became president Obama began to waive the rules that were supposed to keep lobbyists out of his administration.
He also made sure that lobbyists from left-wing advocacy groups were big winners in the Washington sweepstakes assuring that K Street had its biggest payday ever once he took office. And all the while he was taking millions from lobbyists.
And now it has been reported that lobbyists have even skipped White House visitor logs by benefiting from secret meetings between themselves and the administration with off-site meetings away from the White House.
Transparency shmaceparency.
As to Guantanamo, one of the very first acts Obama took was to sign an Executive Order that said he'd close Guantanamo a year after his signing of the order. A year later the facility was still open, remains so to this day, and Obama is making no moves to fulfill his own EO. Further he ramped up the military's presence in Afghanistan not to mention the many thousands more unmanned vehicle predator drone strikes that have killed thousands in Taliban controlled Pakistan and areas of Afghanistan where the US military cannot effectively reach.
As to Obama's lawlessness, there are many examples of this.
To name just a few cases Obama has ignored the rulings of judges to allow offshore oil drilling to the point where he is now n contempt of court. He has also refused to prosecute the obvious voter intimidation perpetrated by the Black Panthers in Philadelphia. Additionally he has told his Dept. of Labor to allow unions to violate disclosure rules. And this week we see his next lawless action.
This week Obama's Justice Dept. has announced that it simply won't prosecute cases brought under the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). DOMA is law, not just policy, yet Obama has simply decided that he won't prosecute cases brought under the law.
Imagine if a Republican president simply decided out of hand that his Dept. of Justice would not take any abortion cases, or perhaps decided that affirmative action cases should be stonewalled? Or what if a Republican Dept. of Justice decided to ignore any violations of any other law that leftists love? The left and its friends in the Old Media establishment would be up in arms (as they should be for an administration being so lawless).

Democrats Lust for Power at Any Cost
They will side with anyone or anything in their quest for more control, even if it means partnering with known enemies. I mean, I know the left are all about the free love thing but c’mon, the Muslim Brotherhood? Really? Do they actually know who they’re in bed with? Do they even care? What about that whole ‘separation of church and state’ mantra they like to throw around at parties? Isn’t embracing Islam in the White House a bit of hypocrisy?

Wisconsin governor Scott Walker told THE WEEKLY STANDARD this evening that it is indeed possible for Senate Republicans to vote on the collective bargaining portion of his budget repair bill with a simple majority of senators present. "You could technically do it,” Walker told me, but he said he's reluctant to do it. Why?
“First of all, I’m an eternal optimist. My hope is still that in the end … Senate Democrats eventually feel the need from the public to come back and debate this bill.”
Pressed further on whether or not he'd consider voting on the collective bargaining separately in the future, Walker deflected the question and said he's currently committed to keeping the bill intact:
TWS: Is there any consideration that, in the future, you might split off and vote on this collective bargaining portion separately?
Walker: I still think it’s important to keep it intact. Because one [part of the bill] goes with the other. If you fail to get one, it makes it hard to balance the rest of the budget. Egyptian Army Soldiers Chanting “Allahu Akbar” Attack Ancient Christian Monastery Using Live Ammunition, RPG Rounds…
(AINA) — For the second time in as many days, Egyptian armed force stormed the 5th century old St. Bishoy monastery in Wadi el-Natroun, 110 kilometers from Cairo. Live ammunition was fired, wounding two monks and six Coptic monastery workers. Several sources confirmed the army’s use of RPG ammunition. Four people have been arrested including three monks and a Coptic lawyer who was at the monastery investigating yesterday’s army attack.
Monk Aksios Ava Bishoy told activist Nader Shoukry of Freecopts the armed forces stormed the main entrance gate to the monastery in the morning using five tanks, armored vehicles and a bulldozer to demolish the fence built by the monastery last month to protect themselves and the monastery from the lawlessness which prevailed in Egypt during the January 25 Uprising.
“When we tried to address them, the army fired live bullets, wounding Father Feltaows in the leg and Father Barnabas in the abdomen,” said Monk Ava Bishoy. “Six Coptic workers in the monastery were also injured, some with serious injuries to the chest.”
The injured were rushed to the nearby Sadat Hospital, the ones in serious condition were transferred to the Anglo-Egyptian Hospital in Cairo.
Father Hemanot Ava Bishoy said the army fired live ammunition and RPGs continuously for 30 minutes, which hit part of the ancient fence inside the monastery. “The army was shocked to see the monks standing there praying ‘Lord have mercy’ without running away. Squatters who broke into and occupied a £1million house have been given hundreds of pounds of taxpayers' money in legal aid to fight eviction.
The intruders from France, Spain and Poland have been living in the three-storey five-bedroom townhouse for a month.
Meanwhile, owner John Hamilton-Brown has been forced to rent a two-bedroom flat for his family while he battles to get the gang out of the house.
In a civilized country, all he would have to do is call the police. But Britain has rejected civilization in favor of liberalism.
When the press came around,
some of the squatters danced, waved flags, sang and played the guitar outside the property. They also bragged about how easy Britain's laws were in allowing them to take over homes.
The squatters aren't British subjects, but they are members of the EU and more importantly, unemployed, so they qualify for legal representation that sympathetic bureauweenies force others to pay for. The owner of the house observes:
"As I work and pay taxes, I'm at a disadvantage. I've saved up for ten years to move into this house and this is what I get."
Neighbors, who report that substantial damage has been done to the property, concur:
A neighbour said: "They have more rights than we do.
"They know what they're doing on the legal side of things as they've been in houses before in the area."
How's this for social justice?

Federalist Society Podcast on the Government’s Duty to Defend the Law — And A Few More Thoughts on the Decision Not to Defend DOMA
The Federalist Society had an interesting podcast on the issue back in October that you can listen to here. It lasts 40 minutes, and it features Walter Dellinger, John Eastman, John Baker, and Dean Reuter.
In thinking over my reaction from yesterday, some of the feedback I’ve received has me somewhat less concerned than I was yesterday about the Obama Administration’s approach. In particular, it seems that everyone seems to think that, somehow, someone will be available to defend a law when the Administration declines to to do. It’s not entirely clear to me how this happens when an Administration declines to defend a law in the District Court, as opposed to the Supreme Court: The key problem is how to get the case up to the Supreme Court, which isn’t presented when the Administration defends the law in the lower courts. But if everyone agrees that this will happen somehow, then the Administration’s decision is a lot less significant, and therefore less worrisome from a standpoint of long-term impact, than I had thought.
As to how this might happen, some have pointed out that in INS v. Chadha, the Executive declined to defend the law in the circuit court, and the circuit court then appointed amici to represent the interests of both the House and the Senate to defend the law. This is a fair point. At the same time, the law in Chadha was an extremely unusual law: It was a power grab by Congress to take power from the Executive by giving both the House and the Senate unilateral veto power over Executive action. The House and Senate wanted the power; the Executive branch didn’t want them to have it. In that rather unique setting, it makes some sense that the House and Senate, rather than the Executive branch, would defend the law. In the case of DOMA, though, the law is no more Congress’s than it is the President’s. I suppose that you can look to the politics of the majority in each house of Congress and make a practical assessment of whether both or either institution would defend the law; because the House is now in Republican hands, presumably the House would do so if it can. But that strikes me as tricky because it depends on the timing; while it might be true today, presumably it wasn’t true last year.
Anyway, thanks for the helpful feedback; it’s an interesting and complicated question.

A senior policy advisor with the American Petroleum Institute, the trade group for hundreds of U.S. oil and gas producers, said in a statement about the study that offshore drilling for oil and natural gas can help with the country’s energy and economic needs.
“America will need all forms of energy to get our economy back on track, and that includes oil – we can either produce it here and create more American jobs or import it and create jobs elsewhere,” Richard Ranger said. “The administration and Congress need to adopt an ‘all of the above’ energy approach that leverages our offshore resources in Alaska to create an energy plan for America that boosts, rather than inhibits, our economy.”
About 77 percent of world oil reserves are owned or controlled by national governments and the U.S. currently imports over 60 percent of its crude oil, according to API. The Northern Economics-University of Alaska study estimates that Arctic offshore development could cut U.S. imports by about 9 percent over 35 years.
Crude oil prices in New York broke through the $100-a-barrel threshold on Thursday, with rising prices linked to the unrest in the Middle East, including Libya and its vast oil reserves.
The Washington Post reported on Thursday that U.S. pump prices for regular gasoline jumped 4 cents a gallon overnight to $3.23, an 8-cent-per-gallon increase in the past week and 55 cents more than a year ago.
“Given the current political turmoil in the Middle East and increased demand from a slowly growing economy, it is more essential now than ever before that we develop Alaska’s OCS to increase domestic production,” Ranger said. “Increased OCS production in Alaska would also extend the operating life of the 800-mile Trans-Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS), a critical lifeline of domestic energy for America.”
We’ll have to out-shout Greenpeace and the Sierra Club but this seems like a must-do.

The report — by the consulting firm Northern Economics and the University of Alaska-Anchorage’s Institute of Social and Economic Research – says that developing Alaska’s OCS could produce almost 10 billion barrels of oil and 15 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, create around 55,000 new jobs and produce $145 billion in new payroll nationally, generating a total of $193 billion in government revenue through the year 2057.

All we’ve heard out of the Obama Administration for the last two weeks is mixed condemnation and support of the Egyptian government and support of the people which likely means “support for the Muslim Brotherhood”.
Obama has been calling for transparency, meaningful democracy, a government peaceful transition, history in the making, on and on for Egypt, while Obama himself has failed miserably in America. Failure in open government, open public information about himself, unwilling to be transparent in his records, birth information, legislative activity in the dark of night, filling his administration with communist, radicals, socialist, progressives and supporting every manner of immoral, dishonorable, and unconstitutional action.........Obama is the mirror image of Hosni Mubarak...and maybe worse.
It's beyond time for Americans that love our nation, our constitution, republic principles to indeed make a stand......we should take a lesson from the Egyptian grievance process.
Is the time March 19, 2011 in D.C. or some other date but America, if we are ever going to throw Obama and his destructive policies, activity, and unconstitutional direction out of power before 2012, we will have to do it like the Egyptians.
But remember, when "we the people" assemble in America, Obama and his minions label us as right wing-radicals, nut-cases, birthers, fringe elements, trouble makers, every sort of denigration...let's see if Obama is as kind to "we the people" in America as he has been to the Egyptians when we put our power up his nose.
Plan to be in DC for however long it takes to cause Obama to validate his credentials to serve as president; demand the US Congress stop all the spending driving America toward destruction; demand the US Supreme Court investigate and verify Barack Obama in accordance with Article 2, Section 1 of the US Constitution with regard to qualification.....but then again we know his father was a British/Kenya citizen which makes Obama a dual citizen, not of "natural citizen birth" thus ineligible to serve as president. The only way we will ever get the US congress and US Supreme Court to act is field millions of peaceful Americans in Washington, D.C. for as long as it takes. This number would totally bring Washington D.C. to a halt......a stand-still.
Just like the Egyptian grievance event, no planning beyond a rally point(s), identifying a date, suggesting signs/placards/banners and show up in Washington D.C. with all intentions to stay there until our demands are satisfied.

OKLAHOMA--Hands off Oklahoma's guns--that's what one Oklahoma representative is saying with a new gun rights bill. Representative Mike Ritze from Broken Arrow authored House Bill 1665 which would exempt any firearm made and kept in Oklahoma from federal regulation.
