At a fundraiser last night in San Francisco, President Barack Obama said that the Newtown killer gunned down 20 children using a "fully automatic weapon." From the official transcript, provided by the White House:
Now, over the next couple of months, we’ve got a couple of issues: gun control. (Applause.) I just came from Denver, where the issue of gun violence is something that has haunted families for way too long, and it is possible for us to create common-sense gun safety measures that respect the traditions of gun ownership in this country and hunters and sportsmen, but also make sure that we don’t have another 20 children in a classroom gunned down by a semiautomatic weapon -- by a fully automatic weapon in that case, sadly.
According to the prosecutor, Stephen J. Sedensky III, the killer, Adam Lanza, "killed all 26 victims inside Sandy Hook Elementary School with a Bushmaster .223-caliber rifle before taking his own life with a Glock 10 mm handgun. He says Lanza had another loaded handgun with him inside the school as well as three, 30-round magazines for the Bushmaster," ABC previously reported.
Each of the guns used is a semi-automatic weapon, and not one is an automatic weapon.
So either Obama is wrong--or he revealed something last night about the massacre that hasn't yet been known.

$423,500 Stimulus Program on 'Correct Condom Use' Yields Zero Jobs
The details of a stimulus grant awarded to Indiana University to study condom use have now been released on a government website. The study, titled "Barriers to Correct Condom Use," is now completed, according to the website, and the university received $423,500 of stimulus funds to perform the study.
The stimulus project yielded a total of 0.00 jobs created, according to the federal government. "No jobs created/retained," the form says under "Description of Jobs Created."

Incidents of racial and anti-gay slurs roil Elizabethtown College campus
Elizabethtown College is investigating a series of incidents involving racial and anti-gay slurs.
More than a dozen such incidents have been reported since the beginning of February, a college official said.
The FBI is being consulted to determine if any of the incidents constitute hate crimes that warrant police prosecution.
So far, however, Elizabethtown Borough police have not been brought into the investigation.
"We are making everyone on campus aware of the fact that these types of incidents will not be tolerated at Elizabethtown College," said Amy Mountain, the college's director of communications.
Some disciplinary action has been taken by the college, although Mountain declined to provide any details, citing student privacy.
A nonstudent has been barred from campus. Mountain declined to identify that person or to discuss that person's actions.
Students and faculty have begun organizing events aimed at denouncing the hateful incidents, standing up for victims and increasing awareness about diversity.
"We will not stand for this as a community," said Stephen Boyhont, a junior from Lititz who is vice president of Allies, the college's Gay/Straight Alliance.
From the beginning of February through the end of March, campus officials received several reports about anti-gay and racist remarks being written on message boards that hang on dorm-room doors, according to Mountain.
One racist message used the word "kill," Mountain said.
Also, one student sent a threatening message to another via social media, and an anti-gay remark was scratched onto a bathroom stall.
Boyhont said he was the target of several anti-gay comments that were spoken in his presence and written on the message board on his dorm room.
"I would call myself a victim of ignorance," he said. "I don't feel any pain, I just feel pity for those who are doing this to me."
Besides his own encounters, Boyhont said he's heard "about people spitting on others and incidents of indecent name-calling."
And he heard about a threatening racist note that was written on the message board of an African-American student.
That note is one of the incidents the college has asked the FBI to examine.
"They are a resource for us to evaluate what happened and how it needs to be classified — whether it is a bias-related incident, a hate crime or a vandalism crime," Mountain said.
In addition to calling the FBI and taking some disciplinary actions, the college, among other measures, has:
Increased campus security presence in selected residence halls;
Hosted listening sessions with students and community-wide dialogue;
Planned to revise the harassment/intimidation policy to define bias-related incidents/hate crimes, and to provide clear instructions for how a community member should respond to these incidents.
Upcoming events scheduled in the wake of the racist and anti-gay incidents include:
A candlelight vigil denouncing the incidents, today, 7:30 p.m., outside Brossman Student Commons.
Stop the Hate program April 10 outside the Jays Nest during the day.
Sit-in at Brossman Student Commons from 6 a.m. April 19 through 1 a.m. April 20 to support those victimized by the hateful incidents.
"I feel like the college is responding appropriately at the moment," Boyhont said. "They are very concerned."
Junior Katherine Tripp said she believes the school could do more to make students and faculty aware of what has happened, and of what is being done about it.
"I feel the school could have a better response to it," she said. "They're trying, but I feel like they need to give us more information.
"Most of the students don't know the extent to which these incidents are happening, and so they don't think it's as big of a deal as it is."
Amanda McCaffrey, a junior, said this semester's rash of incidents are the first of their kind that she's experienced since she began attending Elizabethtown College three years ago.
"My first reaction is, 'Are you serious?' " she said. "This is not what E-town's about ...
"E-town's the kind of place where you can be anyone and you are accepted."

Police: Horse attached to buggy runs off, hits cars
Horse suffered only minor injuries
EPHRATA, Pa. — Police in Ephrata say a horse attached to a parked buggy went wild and ran off, striking two cars.
The incident happened around 4:30 p.m. Thursday on the first block of East Main Street.
Police said the horse became out of control, ran over its owner and ran off, pulling the unoccupied buggy behind.
The buggy struck two cars and after the impact, the horse kept running.
Police said the horse was recovered a short time later and sustained only minor injuries. The horse's owner was treated at the hospital for her injuries and is expected to be OK.

IMF Wants Americans Taxed $1.40 More Per Gallon Of Gas

Where I live, gas is about $3.41 a gallon. The national average is some 24 cents higher, and it might be higher where you live.
Already, we have federal and state gas taxes that are embedded in the price of gasoline that are supposed to fund construction and maintenance of roads and highways.
But imagine if a gallon of gas was all of a sudden $1.40 more expensive. This is what the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is suggesting. They think this gas tax would be a good idea to fend off global warming and save the environment.
A few days ago, we reported how global warming isn’t progressing as many scientists expected it to. According to The Economist, the Earth has added 100 billion tons of carbon just in the years between 2000 and 2010, which represents about a quarter of all carbon emitted by humans since 1750. Yet, scientists are having to admit that there is a hiatus in temperature rises. All they can say is that the non-rising temperature is puzzling. It doesn’t correlate with their presumed theory that carbon emissions cause global temperatures to rise. I’m sure they’ll think of something to keep the myth going. That’s what they’re paid to do.
Scientists might be puzzled, but politicians don’t care. Their job is to scare people into paying more taxes. They’ll use anything as the excuse, and an environmental apocalypse is a pretty easy sell on willing liberal voters. We have to do something to stop global warming, and taxes just might be the thing to prevent it from getting worse.
If the IMF gets its way, and we end up paying an additional $1.40 carbon/gas tax per gallon of gas, that would represent about $1,400 per person each year, and on an annual basis, would raise about $500 billion.
According to the IMF, this would be America’s fair share, because we contribute the most in carbon emissions. Well, except for China, but they’re not really a member nation of the IMF anymore, so they don’t count. It’s the old “tax the rich” principle applied to pollution fees. Since we contribute more carbon emissions than the European nations, it’s only fair that we should pay more in taxes.
The IMF says it’s not so much about the money as it is getting people to stop driving so much. I’m sure they’re all in favor of “energy independence,” but what they mean by that is getting people to stop using cars and start using public transportation. So, the high gas tax would hopefully be an incentive for people to wean themselves off fossil fuels.
Of course, all of this would be moot if we weren’t a member of so many international organizations like the IMF, who don’t care one bit about the citizens in any country. The decisions they make, the taxes they impose and the regulations they enforce could affect the world’s nations. Talk about “taxation without representation.” These international organizations only erode our national sovereignty.

Democrats Backed Bill in California: "Pedophilia Is A Sexual Orientation"

Who in the Hell are these people?
California Congresswoman, Rep. Jackie Speier CA (D), wants to federalize a state law to prohibit counseling to change a person’s sexual orientation. That doesn’t sound that extreme, but pedophilia is a sexual orientation according to this bill as well.
Under the bill’s language, a mental health counselor could be sanctioned if there was an attempt to get a pedophile or gay individual to change his behavior or speak negatively about their behavior as it relates to sexuality.
The bill calls on states to prohibit efforts to change a minor’s sexual orientation, even if the minor requests it, saying that doing so is “dangerous and harmful.”
The text of the legislation doesn’t specifically ban “gay” conversion therapy. Instead, it prohibits attempts to change a person’s sexual orientation.
“Sexual orientation change efforts’ means any practices by mental health providers that seek to change an individual’s sexual orientation,” the bill says.
Republicans attempted to add an amendment specifying that, “pedophilia is not covered as an orientation.” However, the Democrats defeated the amendment. Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-FL) stated that all alternative sexual lifestyles should be protected under the law, and accordingly decided that pedophilia is a sexual orientation that should be equally as embraced as homosexuality.
“This language is so broad and vague, it arguably could include all forms of sexual orientation, including pedophilia,” said Brad Dacus, president of the Pacific Justice Institute. “It’s not just the orientation that is protected—the conduct associated with the orientation is protected as well.”
Who Cares If Pedophilia Is A Sexual Orientation?
It also means that, if pedophilia is a sexual orientation, that discrimination laws also apply to pedophiles. That means you cannot block a pedophile from being a preschool teacher or any other high-risk occupation.
Recently, a United States District Court Judge, William Shubb, sided with Pacific Justice Institute (PJI) by granting their plaintiffs a preliminary injunction against the legislation, which is known as California SB 1172.
“Because the court finds that SB 1172 is subject to strict scrutiny and is unlikely to satisfy this standard, the court finds that plaintiffs are likely to succeed on the merits of their claims based on violations of their rights to freedom of speech under the First Amendment,” wrote Judge Shubb.
“This victory sends a clear signal to all those who feel they can stifle religious freedom, free speech, and the rights of parents without being contested,” said PJI President, Brad Dacus. “We at PJI are ready to fight this battle all the way to the Supreme Court, if necessary.
“This will be a long, grueling battle with tremendous consequences for generations to come. We are grateful to those who are willing to support us in this critical time to preserve our freedoms and protect our children,” he continued.
Thankfully, for the time being, this legislation has been blocked, but many questions still remain.
This bill establishes a dangerous precedent for normalizing the behavior of pedophiles while stripping parents of their rights and peace of mind.
One can certainly make the argument that homosexuals are “born that way,” and we generally would not dispute that. However, when we have legislators that want to extend the “born that way” defense to pedophiles, this crosses a very dangerous line.
Whether a pedophile is born that way or not, it still does not make their behavior acceptable in any way.
If so, then you could declare rapists are “born that way.” They can’t help that they need to rape! Poor them!
Let’s be real.
Sex between an adult and a child too young to understand what is going on is not the same thing as sex between two consenting adults.
The operative word here is “consenting.” Children—by both law and basic common sense—cannot “consent.” If Jackie Spier had a son or daughter, and an adult “had consensual sex” with him or her, we do not believe that what she would be so adamant about protecting them.
What liberals conveniently ignore is the fact that all societies who participated in pedophilia—such as the Hittites, Canaanites, Greeks, and Romans—eventually caved in on themselves due to corruption and depravity.
Further, let’s not also forget that their favorite form of entertainment was watching people get torn to shreds by lions, hacked to death, and burned alive.
Recognizing sexual ‘orientation’ is walking a razor’s edge. Unlike gay-oriented legislation, pedophilia has victims who must be protected.
We don’t put pedophiles in prison to make them stop being pedophiles; we put them there because they threaten the safety of the most vulnerable people in a society.

Border Security Update: No fence, just ‘walkway and stairs’

(The Washington Times) - Utah Republican Rep. Jason Chaffetz sent out a series of tweets on Tuesday during his visit to the U.S.-Mexico border by Yuma, Ariz. As the saying goes, a picture says a thousand words.
One tweet included a photo of a pathway with wooden steps, bordered by a yellow handrail.
“No fence on this part of the border,” Mr. Chaffetz tweeted, as reported by the Blaze. “It is a walkway and stairs.”
Shortly after came another tweet with a second picture of the railed pathway, as it wove near a body of water: “No fence, You can walk across the border, with handrails,” Mr. Chaffetz wrote.
Mr. Chaffetz also witnessed nine attempting to cross the border — and getting caught by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials.
He tweeted: “CBP just apprehended 9 Romanians crossing the border about 3 miles. This is the USA-Mexico border.”
Mr. Chaffetz made the border trip as a preview of congressional subcommittee hearings he’s expected to hold and attend on national security in May, the Salt Lake Tribune reports.
“As the immigration debate heats up, one of the key metrics is securing the border, and I think everybody on both sides of the aisle agreed that was pivotal,” he said, to the Tribune. “The most important thing for me is to talk to the people who are actually out there doing it.”
Mr. Chaffetz’s visit came a week after four senators, led by Sens. Chuck Schumer and John McCain, visited the border by air and ground — and saw first-hand a woman’s failed attempt to climb an 18-foot fence into the United States.

Bill requires background checks for benefits applicants

Raleigh, N.C. - County Departments of Social Service would be required to conduct criminal background checks on those applying for federal benefits under a bill that cleared the House Health and Human Services Committee on Tuesday.
If someone applying for Food and Nutrition Assistance, what many people call food stamps, or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, which are cash payments, is found to have an outstanding warrant, social service workers would be required to report them to local law enforcement under House Bill 392.
"Local law enforcement and all county agencies should work together to keep the public as safe as possible," said Rep. Dean Arp, R-Union. He said federal law already prohibits benefits from going to fleeing felons and parole and probation violators.

LONDON (AP) — If you punch a punk in Manchester, it could be a hate crime.
Police in the English city announced Wednesday that they will begin recording offenses against members of alternative subcultures in the same way they do attacks based on race, religion, disability, sexual orientation or transgender identity.
The Greater Manchester force - the first in Britain to take the step - says "Goths, emos, punks and metallers" and members of other alternative groups often endure abuse.
Members of these groups - often teenagers - are easily identifiable by their distinctive clothing, hairstyles and accessories, from Goths' pale makeup and black garb to punks' spiky hair and piercings.
"People who wish to express their alternative sub-culture identity freely should not have to tolerate hate crime," Assistant Chief Constable Garry Shewan said.

Party Time! U.N. Passes Global Gun Control Treaty

(TPNN) - On Tuesday, the United Nations General Assembly approved the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) which had been designed to regulate the traffic and possession of weapons between countries. The treaty, however, has been widely criticized by gun rights advocates and legislators who claim that the treaty is an end-run around the Constitutional guarantees of individual firearm ownership and the sovereignty of America to govern itself.
The Washington Times reported,
[The treaty] requires countries to regulate and control the export of weaponry such as battle tanks, combat vehicles and aircraft and attack helicopters, as well as parts and ammunition for such weapons. It also provides that signatories will not violate arms embargoes, international treaties regarding illicit trafficking, or sell weaponry to countries for genocide, crimes against humanity or other war crimes…
American gun rights activists, though, insist the treaty is riddled with loopholes and is unworkable in part because it includes “small arms and light weapons” in its list of weaponry subject to international regulations. They do not trust U.N. assertions that the pact is meant to regulate only cross-border trade and would have no impact on domestic U.S. laws and markets.
Last week, the Senate passed a non-binding amendment to the Senate budget that called for a protection of Second Amendment rights. The amendment, proposed by Senator James Inhofe, calls for the Senate’s refusal to enter into the ATT. Though the treaty was passed by the UN General Assembly, even after the president signs it, it must still be ratified by the Senate to be recognized. The President has supported the ATT and plans to sign it.
However, the treaty has more far-reaching implications than mere heavy arms regulations between nations. As Awr Hawkins noted before the passage,
[T]he ATT contains ambiguities regarding the application of new firearm regulations and import restrictions. And this means the moment the ATT goes into effect–should it be ratified–the types of guns allowed to enter America would largely depend on each U.S. Presidential administration’s opinion of what is or isn’t appropriate.
In this way, the ATT actually hands the executive branch the power to work with other governments around world to shut down portions of the U.S. import firearms market as they see fit. This will be possible by seizing on ambiguous terms and phrases within the ATT–from claiming certain classes of gun are “inappropriate” to claiming others endanger “women and children“–then barring whole groups of firearms from import.
To control the flow of weapons, the treaty will require a heightening of monitoring of gun ownership to be enforceable. Though supporters of the treaty have worked to assuage fears that there are plans to create a gun registry, the fact remains that in order to accomplish the monitoring of weapon traffic for which the treaty calls, a strengthening of accounting for gun ownership will be required.

C. President Obama signs the Dodd-Frank financial reform bill into law, which prosecutes not a single banker and also fails to address the cause of the mortage meltdown, Fannie Mae. Just this month, the federal government itself admitted that "no one has any idea what compliance with financial regulations, including the Dodd-Frank financial reforms, actually costs."
D. President Obama signs an Executive Order creating a de facto "DREAM Act" amnesty for illegal aliens in the United States, bypassing a Congress that was unwilling to pass legislation to do so.
And a postscript: Obamacare really doesn't even fully kick in until January 1st 2014. Combined with "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" and untold new EPA regulations headed at energy companies, this administration appears bound and determined to crush entrepreneurship in the U.S.

MANTI, Utah (AP) -- For six years Troy James Knapp eluded authorities, moving from cabin to cabin across the Utah mountains, taking food and weapons and leaving notes to brag about it.
It all ended Tuesday as lawmen made what they called a surprisingly easy capture outside a remote cabin after the suspect fired off a few harmless shots.
"He was laughing with our guys. He said, `Boy, you really snuck up on me,'" said Sevier County Sheriff Nathan Curtis. "He threw his rifle down in the snow and said, `You got me.'"

Report: Sandy Hook shooter studied mass killing at Nickel Mines

(Newtown, Conn.) - Before he killed 26 first-graders and educators at Sandy Hook Elementary School, Adam Lanza schooled himself on mass shootings.
And one of the shootings he was particularly interested in was the 2006 shooting at the Nickel Mines Amish schoolhouse in Lancaster County, sources said.
The news recently was released, along with details of what was recovered from Lanza's car and home following the December shootings in Connecticut, in which Lanza also shot his mother and later took his own life.
Sources familiar with the investigation said Lanza appeared to be particularly interested in two mass killings: the Nickel Mines shootings that killed five Amish girls and wounded five others, and the 2011 spree in Norway by Anders Behring Breivik in which he killed 77 people, eight of them by setting off bombs in downtown Oslo before he shot and killed 69 others at an island summer camp.
Hearst Connecticut Newspapers and other news organizations have reported in recent weeks that investigators found reams of documents at the Lanzas' home that suggest the 20-year-old gunman had studied previous mass murders.

Lanza killed 20 first-graders and six educators before turning a gun on himself in the December shooting. In a five-minute spree, he fired off 154 shots with a Bushmaster .223-caliber rifle.
When he killed himself with a single shot from a Glock handgun, Lanza still had more than 100 bullets at hand, according to warrants released by authorities last Thursday.
The warrants also provide the most insight to date into the world of the 20-year-old gunman, a recluse who played violent video games in a house packed with weaponry that was all too real.
The inventory of items taken from the spacious, colonial-style home included books on autism, a vast array of weapon paraphernalia, and images of what appears to be a dead person covered with plastic and blood.
Hearst Newspapers reported that, according to a law enforcement source, Lanza was fascinated by previous mass killings.
He exhibited particular interest in the October 2006 Nickel Mines shooting at a one-room Amish schoolhouse in Bart Township, in which gunman Charles Carl Robert IV shot 10 school girls, five of them fatally, before killing himself.
"There was a lot of material on the Amish case," the source said.
The New York Daily News reported that State Police Col. Danny Stebbins had told a law enforcement conference in New Orleans that Lanza had tracked the details of previous mass killings by creating a 7-foot by 4-foot spreadsheet.
The weapons used in the Newtown shooting had all apparently been purchased by Lanza's mother, Nancy, with whom he lived, said prosecutor Stephen J. Sedensky III, in a statement accompanying the warrants.
She was found dead in her bed; Adam Lanza had shot her the morning of the massacre, Dec. 14. Authorities also found a holiday card from Nancy Lanza containing a check made out to her son for the purchase of yet another firearm.
If it's possible to determine a motive for the massacre, there may be clues in Adam Lanza's journals, which state police seized from the house and turned over to the FBI for analysis. But authorities say that so far no conclusions have been reached. Sedensky estimated the investigation will be finished this summer.
At the Lanza house, investigators found books about autism and Asperger's syndrome, as well as one with tabbed pages entitled: "Train Your Brain to Get Happy." Adam Lanza was said to have been diagnosed with Asperger's.
But the warrants also reveal an intense interest in weaponry and violence.
A gun locker in Lanza's bedroom was open when police arrived at the house in the aftermath of the shootings, and there was no sign it had been broken into.
Investigators found a 7-foot pole with a blade on one side and a spear on another, a metal bayonet, three samurai swords, a .323-caliber bolt-action rifle, a .22-caliber Savage Mark II rifle and a .22-caliber Volcanic starter pistol. There was a military-style uniform in Lanza's bedroom; literature seized from the house included a news article on a 2008 shooting at Northern Illinois University and a National Rifle Association guide to pistol shooting.
In a duffel bag, investigators found ear and eye protection, binoculars, numerous paper targets and an NRA certificate that belonged to Adam Lanza. The NRA said Lanza was not a member.
According to its website, the NRA doesn't offer formal certificates for membership, but certificates are offered for completion of firearms training and safety courses.
An unnamed person told investigators that Lanza was an avid gamer who played "Call of Duty" and rarely left his home. The affidavit, which is partially blacked out, also has that person saying that Sandy Hook, the school Lanza attended as a child, was his "life."
On the day of the massacre, Lanza took two loaded handguns to the school along with the Bushmaster rifle. A fourth gun, a loaded 12-gauge Saiga shotgun, was found in the passenger compartment of his Honda Civic, along with 70 shotgun rounds.
Lanza went through six 30-round magazines for the Bushmaster, although half of them were not completely empty, and police said he had three other 30-round magazines in addition to one that was in the rifle.
A judge's order to seal the warrants expired last Wednesday, and a Danbury Superior Court judge granted a request by Sedensky to withhold some details. Sedensky asked to redact the name of a witness, saying the person's safety might be jeopardized if the name were disclosed. He also asked that the release not include other information such as telephone numbers, serial numbers on items found and a few paragraphs of an affidavit.
Malloy, a Democrat in his first term as governor, said the fact that Lanza left smaller magazines at the house should boost support for a state ban on high-capacity ammunition magazines.

He exhibited particular interest in the October 2006 Nickel Mines shooting at a one-room Amish schoolhouse in Bart Township, in which gunman Charles Carl Robert IV shot 10 school girls, five of them fatally, before killing himself.
"There was a lot of material on the Amish case," the source said.
The New York Daily News reported that State Police Col. Danny Stebbins had told a law enforcement conference in New Orleans that Lanza had tracked the details of previous mass killings by creating a 7-foot by 4-foot spreadsheet.
The weapons used in the Newtown shooting had all apparently been purchased by Lanza's mother, Nancy, with whom he lived, said prosecutor Stephen J. Sedensky III, in a statement accompanying the warrants.
She was found dead in her bed; Adam Lanza had shot her the morning of the massacre, Dec. 14. Authorities also found a holiday card from Nancy Lanza containing a check made out to her son for the purchase of yet another firearm.
If it's possible to determine a motive for the massacre, there may be clues in Adam Lanza's journals, which state police seized from the house and turned over to the FBI for analysis. But authorities say that so far no conclusions have been reached. Sedensky estimated the investigation will be finished this summer.
At the Lanza house, investigators found books about autism and Asperger's syndrome, as well as one with tabbed pages entitled: "Train Your Brain to Get Happy." Adam Lanza was said to have been diagnosed with Asperger's.
But the warrants also reveal an intense interest in weaponry and violence.
A gun locker in Lanza's bedroom was open when police arrived at the house in the aftermath of the shootings, and there was no sign it had been broken into.
Investigators found a 7-foot pole with a blade on one side and a spear on another, a metal bayonet, three samurai swords, a .323-caliber bolt-action rifle, a .22-caliber Savage Mark II rifle and a .22-caliber Volcanic starter pistol. There was a military-style uniform in Lanza's bedroom; literature seized from the house included a news article on a 2008 shooting at Northern Illinois University and a National Rifle Association guide to pistol shooting.
In a duffel bag, investigators found ear and eye protection, binoculars, numerous paper targets and an NRA certificate that belonged to Adam Lanza. The NRA said Lanza was not a member.
According to its website, the NRA doesn't offer formal certificates for membership, but certificates are offered for completion of firearms training and safety courses.
An unnamed person told investigators that Lanza was an avid gamer who played "Call of Duty" and rarely left his home. The affidavit, which is partially blacked out, also has that person saying that Sandy Hook, the school Lanza attended as a child, was his "life."
On the day of the massacre, Lanza took two loaded handguns to the school along with the Bushmaster rifle. A fourth gun, a loaded 12-gauge Saiga shotgun, was found in the passenger compartment of his Honda Civic, along with 70 shotgun rounds.
Lanza went through six 30-round magazines for the Bushmaster, although half of them were not completely empty, and police said he had three other 30-round magazines in addition to one that was in the rifle.
A judge's order to seal the warrants expired last Wednesday, and a Danbury Superior Court judge granted a request by Sedensky to withhold some details. Sedensky asked to redact the name of a witness, saying the person's safety might be jeopardized if the name were disclosed. He also asked that the release not include other information such as telephone numbers, serial numbers on items found and a few paragraphs of an affidavit.
Malloy, a Democrat in his first term as governor, said the fact that Lanza left smaller magazines at the house should boost support for a state ban on high-capacity ammunition magazines.

New York - A Democratic state senator conspired with a New York City councilman to buy himself onto the Republican ballot for mayor this year with tens of thousands of dollars in bribes to two Republican leaders, a prosecutor said Tuesday as he announced six arrests in a case he warned reveals a "show-me-the-money culture" at every level of New York government.
Malcolm Smith, 56, who has served at times as the state Senate's majority and minority leader since becoming a senator in March 2000, was arrested along with Republican New York City Councilman Dan Halloran, 42, and four other political figures.
U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara told a news conference he believed public corruption in New York was "downright pervasive" and "a show-me-the-money culture seems to pervade every level of New York government."
He read aloud what he said a recording device captured from a conversation last year when Halloran allegedly accepted a $7,500 cash bribe from a cooperating witness so Halloran could run for Congress.
"That's politics ... it's all about how much ... that's our politicians in New York, they're all like that, all like that," Bharara quoted Halloran as saying. "And they get like that because of the drive that the money does for everything else. You can't do anything without the ... money."
The prosecutor said: "These words should echo in the ears of every New Yorker who still holds onto the dream of honest government."
Smith "tried to bribe his way to a shot at Gracie Mansion," Bharara said, referring to the official mayor's residence. "Smith drew up the game plan and Councilman Halloran essentially quarterbacked that drive by finding party chairmen who were wide open to receiving bribes."
Smith, who serves on the state Senate's transportation committee and is vice chairman of its finance committee, said in a statement that he'll be vindicated. His lawyer, Gerald L. Shargel, said his client denies wrongdoing.
"Malcolm Smith is a dedicated public servant who has served both the state of New York and his constituents in an exemplary fashion," Shargel said. "He steadfastly denies the allegations that are contained in the complaint."
A representative for Halloran did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
A criminal complaint filed in federal court in White Plains said that in meetings with a cooperating witness and an undercover FBI agent posing as a wealthy real estate developer, Smith agreed to bribe up to five leaders of Republican Party county committees in the five boroughs of New York City so he could run for mayor as a Republican, even though he was a registered Democrat.
Bharara said $80,000 in cash was promised or paid to Bronx County Republican Party Chairman Joseph Savino, 45, and Queens County Republican Party Vice Chairman Vincent Tabone, 46, who were both arrested Tuesday. The government said Halloran told the undercover agent that he wanted to get his "mortgage situation resolved" and to be named deputy police commissioner if Smith were elected mayor.
Besides the mayoral plot, authorities said the investigation also revealed a scheme in which Halloran received $18,300 in cash bribes and $6,500 in straw donor campaign contribution checks to steer up to $80,000 in City Council money to a company he believed was controlled by those who paid him the bribes.
In a third plot, prosecutors say, Spring Valley Mayor Noramie Jasmin, 49, and Spring Valley Deputy Mayor Joseph Desmaret, 55, agreed to accept financial benefits so that Smith could use his power as a senator to help obtain state funds for road work in the Rockland County village outside New York City that would benefit a real estate project that Smith believed was being built by the undercover agent's company in Spring Valley. Jasmin and Desmaret were arrested Tuesday.
Representatives for Savino, Tabone, Jasmin, and Desmaret did not immediately respond to comment requests.
In court papers, the FBI detailed numerous meetings over the last year among the defendants, the undercover FBI agent and the cooperating witness, who pleaded guilty to federal charges last month in a deal aimed at winning leniency at sentencing.
In a Jan. 25 meeting in Smith's car in Rockland County, the cooperating witness told Smith that buying the help of Republican county committee leaders would cost "a pretty penny" and asked if it's "worth any price," the complaint said. The FBI said Smith responded: "Look, talk to me before you close it. But it's worth it. Because you know how big a deal it is."
An effort by Smith to run as a Republican is not unprecedented. Mayor Michael Bloomberg switched from the Democratic to Republican parties shortly before his first successful run for mayor in 2001. The path is attractive to candidates because it is easier to get on the ballot for the Republican mayoral primary in a city crowded with Democratic politicians.
But Smith could not run as a Republican without the written consent of three of the city's five Republican Party county chairmen.
Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo, speaking Tuesday at an event in Buffalo, called the arrests "very, very troubling."
"We have zero tolerance for any violation of the public integrity and the public trust," Cuomo said.
New York Republican Chairman Ed Cox said the arrests were "deeply concerning."
"The integrity of the electoral process for the voters of New York City must be preserved," Cox said in a statement.
One candidate for mayor, billionaire businessman John Catsimatidis, said the arrests "point to a culture of corruption that permeates our city and state, corruption fueled by career politicians who put personal advancement before public service."
If convicted of conspiracy, wire fraud and violation of the Hobbs Act, Smith could face up to 45 years in prison. If convicted, Halloran faced the same potential penalty on charges of conspiracy and two counts of wire fraud. Tabone and Savino were each charged with conspiracy and wire fraud, which carry up to 25 years in prison. Jasmin and Desmaret were charged with mail fraud, which carries a potential penalty of 20 years in prison.

Biden to Take Third Vacation of the Year

Vice President Biden today is enjoying his third vacation of the year, a five day sojourn on South Carolina’s luxurious Kiawah Island, where he will no doubt partake of his favorite pastime, golf.
Biden and his wife Jill arrived on the island – known as a golf mecca – Thursday night and are not scheduled to depart before Monday.
Biden’s trip is the latest episode in a bout of rampant vacationing by the First and Second Families, who have been roaring out of Washington this year on taxpayer-funded excursions even as the deficit mounts and the sequester axes jobs and critical spending on other priorities.
While both President Obama and Biden pick up some of the tab for their recreational travel, the bulk of the costs – including flights aboard Air Force One and Air Force Two and security and staff needs – are billed to taxpayers.
Biden should feel especially refreshed when he returns given that he just had a vacation last month in Snowmass, Colorado, where he spent several days over President’s Day weekend. Close by in a neighboring section of Colorado’s ski country was First Lady Michelle Obama, who was taking her second vacation of the year in Aspen.
Over the same President’s Day weekend, President Obama was roving the fairways at an exclusive golf resort in Florida where he got pointers both from Tiger Woods and Tiger’s famous former coach. He and Mrs. Obama had already spent part of late December and early January in Hawaii.
Biden’s first trip this year was a sun worshiping exercise in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where he stayed with his family from Friday, January 4 until Tuesday, January 8.
South Carolina is also a crucial presidential primary state that Biden – believed to be strongly considering a run in 2016 – no doubt has his eye on. Biden reportedly will be back in the state in May when he headlines the annual Jefferson Jackson Dinner, a Democratic fundraising event in the state’s capital, Columbia.
But while his presence in South Carolina over the next few days will generate some local publicity, Biden is sticking to rest and relaxation and has no public events scheduled.

Muslim Brotherhood loan size still under discussion: IMF

AFP - The International Monetary Fund could change the size of a $4.8 billion financing programme for Egypt, its Middle East director said on Tuesday ahead of fresh talks in Cairo on the package in the coming days.
"The size may vary. It's a question of needs and what's required," Masood Ahmed told reporters on the sidelines of a meeting of regional finance ministers in Dubai.
Ahmed is expected to hold fresh talks on the long-mooted loan package later this week.
After talks last month, he welcomed the Egyptian government's "determination to move forward with their economic reform programme" but said that negotiations were likely to continue for some weeks.
The IMF has said that it could provide an emergency short-term loan to Egypt if needed, as talks on the longer-term financing programme drag on.
But the global crisis lender said Cairo would have to show its commitment to reform even to receive a loan from its Rapid Financing Instrument programme.
Authorities believe the loan will help restore investor confidence in Egypt where unrest that accompanied the 2011 uprising that toppled Hosni Mubarak caused a significant drop in revenue from the once-lucrative tourism industry.
Foreign reserves have plunged from $36 billion to $13 billion in two years, and the budget deficit is increasing.
In a meeting with Egyptian business leaders in Cairo last month, US Secretary of State John Kerry stressed the importance of the IMF loan, which is partly conditioned on a measure of agreement between the Islamist-led government and the mainly secular opposition.
"It is paramount, essential, urgent that the Egyptian economy gets stronger, that it gets back on its feet," he said. "It is clear to us that the IMF arrangement needs to be reached. So we need to give the marketplace the confidence."

Mourning the death of yet another Navy Seal in training accident

31-year-old was from Elizabethville, Pa
(Harrisburg, Pennsylvania) -A Navy SEAL from the Susquehanna Valley has died.
The military has confirmed that Special Warfare Operator Chief, 31-year-old Brett Shadle of Elizabethville in Upper Dauphin County, has died in a training accident.
Shadle was a 2000 graduate of Upper Dauphin High School.
Neighbors of Shadle's family tell News 8 that Brett was nothing but a nice guy and that they feel bad for what the family is going through.
He was assigned to a naval special warfare based unit on the East Coast.
Shadle died Thursday during a training exercise in Arizona. A family member tells News 8 he was a member of SEAL Team 6, the team that carried out the raid that killed Osama bin Laden.
Military officials say he and another SEAL were practicing a "routine military free-fall training" when they collided in mid-air and landed in separate areas.
A family member tells News 8 that Shadle was married and had two children.
The other SEAL is still in the hospital and listed in stable condition.

Multiple credible scientific studies going back more then a decade, as well as internal documents from certain pharmaceutical companies that suppressed the information show that SSRI drugs ( Selective Serotonin Re-Uptake Inhibitors ) have well known, but unreported side effects, including but not limited to suicide and other violent behavior. Jeff Weise, age 16, had been prescribed 60 mg/day of Prozac (three times the average starting dose for adults!) when he shot his grandfather, his grandfather’s girlfriend and many fellow students at Red Lake, Minnesota. He then shot himself. 10 dead, 12 wounded.
Cory Baadsgaard, age 16, Wahluke (Washington state) High School, was on Paxil (which caused him to have hallucinations) when he took a rifle to his high school and held 23 classmates hostage. He has no memory of the event.
Chris Fetters, age 13, killed his favorite aunt while taking Prozac.
Christopher Pittman, age 12, murdered both his grandparents while taking Zoloft.
Mathew Miller, age 13, hung himself in his bedroom closet after taking Zoloft for 6 days.
Kip Kinkel, age 15, (on Prozac and Ritalin) shot his parents while they slept then went to school and opened fire killing 2 classmates and injuring 22 shortly after beginning Prozac treatment.
Luke Woodham, age 16 (Prozac) killed his mother and then killed two students, wounding six others.
A boy in Pocatello, ID (Zoloft) in 1998 had a Zoloft-induced seizure that caused an armed stand off at his school.
Michael Carneal (Ritalin), age 14, opened fire on students at a high school prayer meeting in West Paducah, Kentucky. Three teenagers were killed, five others were wounded..
A young man in Huntsville, Alabama (Ritalin) went psychotic chopping up his parents with an ax and also killing one sibling and almost murdering another.
Andrew Golden, age 11, (Ritalin) and Mitchell Johnson, aged 14, (Ritalin) shot 15 people, killing four students, one teacher, and wounding 10 others.
TJ Solomon, age 15, (Ritalin) high school student in Conyers, Georgia opened fire on and wounded six of his class mates.
Rod Mathews, age 14, (Ritalin) beat a classmate to death with a bat.
James Wilson, age 19, (various psychiatric drugs) from Breenwood, South Carolina, took a .22 caliber revolver into an elementary school killing two young girls, and wounding seven other children and two teachers.
Elizabeth Bush, age 13, (Paxil) was responsible for a school shooting in Pennsylvania
Jason Hoffman (Effexor and Celexa) – school shooting in El Cajon, California
Jarred Viktor, age 15, (Paxil), after five days on Paxil he stabbed his grandmother 61 times.
Chris Shanahan, age 15 (Paxil) in Rigby, ID who out of the blue killed a woman.
Jeff Franklin (Prozac and Ritalin), Huntsville, AL, killed his parents as they came home from work using a sledge hammer, hatchet, butcher knife and mechanic’s file, then attacked his younger brothers and sister.
Neal Furrow (Prozac) in LA Jewish school shooting reported to have been court-ordered to be on Prozac along with several other medications.
Kevin Rider, age 14, was withdrawing from Prozac when he died from a gunshot wound to his head. Initially it was ruled a suicide, but two years later, the investigation into his death was opened as a possible homicide. The prime suspect, also age 14, had been taking Zoloft and other SSRI antidepressants.
Alex Kim, age 13, hung himself shortly after his Lexapro prescription had been doubled.
Diane Routhier was prescribed Welbutrin for gallstone problems. Six days later, after suffering many adverse effects of the drug, she shot herself.
Billy Willkomm, an accomplished wrestler and a University of Florida student, was prescribed Prozac at the age of 17. His family found him dead of suicide – hanging from a tall ladder at the family’s Gulf Shore Boulevard home in July 2002.
Kara Jaye Anne Fuller-Otter, age 12, was on Paxil when she hung herself from a hook in her closet. Kara’s parents said “…. the damn doctor wouldn’t take her off it and I asked him to when we went in on the second visit. I told him I thought she was having some sort of reaction to Paxil…”)
Gareth Christian, Vancouver, age 18, was on Paxil when he committed suicide in 2002,
(Gareth’s father could not accept his son’s death and killed himself.)
Julie Woodward, age 17, was on Zoloft when she hung herself in her family’s detached garage.
Matthew Miller was 13 when he saw a psychiatrist because he was having difficulty at school. The psychiatrist gave him samples of Zoloft. Seven days later his mother found him dead, hanging by a belt from a laundry hook in his closet.
Kurt Danysh, age 18, and on Prozac, killed his father with a shotgun. He is now behind prison bars, and writes letters, trying to warn the world that SSRI drugs can kill.
Woody ____, age 37, committed suicide while in his 5th week of taking Zoloft. Shortly before his death his physician suggested doubling the dose of the drug. He had seen his physician only for insomnia. He had never been depressed, nor did he have any history of any mental illness symptoms.
A boy from Houston, age 10, shot and killed his father after his Prozac dosage was increased.
Hammad Memon, age 15, shot and killed a fellow middle school student. He had been diagnosed with ADHD and depression and was taking Zoloft and “other drugs for the conditions.”
Matti Saari, a 22-year-old culinary student, shot and killed 9 students and a teacher, and wounded another student, before killing himself. Saari was taking an SSRI and a benzodiazapine.
Steven Kazmierczak, age 27, shot and killed five people and wounded 21 others before killing himself in a Northern Illinois University auditorium. According to his girlfriend, he had recently been taking Prozac, Xanax and Ambien. Toxicology results showed that he still had trace amounts of Xanax in his system.
Finnish gunman Pekka-Eric Auvinen, age 18, had been taking antidepressants before he killed eight people and wounded a dozen more at Jokela High School – then he committed suicide.
Asa Coon from Cleveland, age 14, shot and wounded four before taking his own life. Court records show Coon was on Trazodone.
Jon Romano, age 16, on medication for depression, fired a shotgun at a teacher in his New York high school.
Missing from list… 3 of 4 known to have taken these same meds….

Those focusing on further firearms bans or magazine restrictions are clearly focusing on the wrong issue and asking the wrong questions, either as a deliberate attempt to hide these links, or out of complete and utter ignorance.
Don’t let them! Force our elected “representatives” and the media to cast a harsh spotlight on this issue. Don’t stop hounding them until they do.

The overwhelming evidence points to the signal largest common factor in all of these incidents is the fact that all of the perpetrators were either actively taking powerful psychotropic drugs or had been at some point in the immediate past before they committed their crimes.
Multiple credible scientific studies going back more then a decade, as well as internal documents from certain pharmaceutical companies that suppressed the information show that SSRI drugs ( Selective Serotonin Re-Uptake Inhibitors ) have well known, but unreported side effects, including but not limited to suicide and other violent behavior. One need only Google relevant key words or phrases to see for themselves. www.ssristories.com is one popular site that has documented over 4500 “ Mainstream Media “ reported cases from around the World of aberrant or violent behavior by those taking these powerful drugs.
The following list of mass shooting perpetrators and the drugs they were taking or had been taking shortly before their horrific actions was compiled and published to Facebook by John Noveske, founder and owner of Noveske Rifleworks just days before he was mysteriously killed in a single car accident. Is there a link between Noveske’s death and his “outting” of information numerous disparate parties would prefer to suppress, for a variety of reasons ?
I leave that to the individual readers to decide. But there is most certainly a documented history of people who “knew to much” or were considered a “threat” dying under extraordinarily suspicious circumstances.
From Katherine Smith, a Tennessee DMV worker who was somehow involved with several 9/11 hijackers obtaining Tennessee Drivers Licenses, and was later found burned to death in her car, to Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Gary Webb, who exposed a CIA Operation in the 80′s that resulted in the flooding of LA Streets with crack cocaine and was later found dead from two gunshot wounds to the head, but was officially ruled as a “suicide“, to Frank Olson, a senior research micro biologist who was working on the CIA’s mind control research program MKULTRA.
