LOS ANGELES, September 11, 2013—On September 11th, 2001, nearly 3,000 Americans were murdered by radical Islamists. Although Islamists had been murdering Americans since the disco era, 9/11 was too massive an act to treat as a law enforcement matter.
President George W. Bush declared that America was now engaged in a global War on Terror. Anybody harboring, sheltering, financing, or enabling terrorists in any way would be just as culpable as those who flew the planes into the Manhattan Towers.
Bush kept his word, and American soldiers won wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. President Obama entered office with a different mindset. His job was to “end wars,” not win them. He also kept his word, removing American troops from both nations.
Unfortunately for Obama, the Islamists kept waging war.
On September 11th, 2012, Islamists in Libya stormed the American Consulate in Benghazi and murdered four Americans. Ambassador Chris Stevens, Information Management Officer Sean Smith, and Navy SEALs Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods died during a standoff that lasted more than seven hours.
Obama promised justice. He promised that the killers would be “held accountable.” One year later, those promises have not been kept.
Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and Ambassador Susan Rice all blamed the deaths on a video by an anti-Muslim film-maker with a checkered past. The video narrative fell apart when the Libyan government pointed out that nobody had seen the video in question. One year later the film-maker is still in prison.
A whistle-blower named Greg Hicks testified before Congress about the night in question. The lifelong State Department diplomat claimed that an attempt to rescue the Benghazi victims was called off when they received an order to “stand down.”
Only the President of the United States is authorized to issue such a stand down order. Yet nobody can say for certain who gave the order. Obama’s whereabouts that night remain a mystery.
Under intense questioning at a Senate hearing, Hillary exclaimed “What difference at this point does it make?”
After initially vowing to pursue justice, the Obama administration now refers to Benghazi and other breaches as “phony scandals.”
The questions being asked about Benghazi are just as valid as they ever were. Who pushed the video narrative? Why is the film-maker still imprisoned? Who altered the talking points?
Who gave the stand down order? Where was Obama that night? Are allegations by an aide that he was playing cards true?
September 11th, 2013 has Obama trying to justify action in Syria without assembling a coherent policy. Syria is now a battle between Bashar Assad and al Qaeda Islamists. Obama want us to trust him, but why should we?
The Bush Doctrine worked because it was strong and decisive. The Obama Doctrine emboldens the Islamists, who Obama will not call out by name.
The entire Benghazi coverup stems from a desire of Obama administration officials to prevent Americans from seeing their failed approach to terrorism before the 2012 election.
Obama’s reversal of the Bush approach is why the tragedy of 9/11 was repeated eleven years later to the day.
One year after Benghazi, the Obama team still has not learned. It is not about being right. It is about doing right. The continued Obama stonewalling does wrong by the Benghazi victims and shames everything Obama once claimed to stand for.
