Merton (Wisconsin) School Board Issues Layoff Notices (1/3 of staff)
Tuesday, Feb. 22 the Merton Community School District School Board issued preliminary notices of layoff/reduction-in-time to approximately 1/3 of the district's teaching staff. Q: Why? A: Uncertainty over state funding, with cuts as large at $500,000 - $1,000,000 possible, forced the board to take this preliminary step to keep options open. Q: When will we know which teachers are being laid off?
