Former Pennsylvania senator and presidential hopeful Rick Santorum compared pro-union protesters in Wisconsin to drug addicts in withdrawal at a small gathering Monday night.
"They are acting like their drug is being taken away from them," Santorum told a group of South Carolina Republicans, according to the Spartanburg Herald-Journal.
Those who support government entitlements are "no better than a drug dealer,” he added. "They give you a subtle narcotic to make you feel better as you do worse.”
Just weeks after moving into his term, Walker announced his proposal to cut union benefits and strip union members of their collective-bargaining rights in an effort to shore up the projected two-year $3.6 billion budget shortfall.
