Woman caught smuggling children at wildlife sanctuary
|
A woman is charged after she was caught smuggling children at the Sabal Palm Sanctuary, and telling authorities they were her own.
The U.S. Border Patrol was called to Sabal Palm Sanctuary in Brownsville Tuesday afternoon for possible illegal immigrants in the area.
According to authorities, agents saw Dania Robles-Lumbreras leave the tourist attraction with six children as they were going to a Ford Expedition from the area.
Investigators said that four of the six minors were Robles-Lumbreras’ children.
The two other minors were not the woman’s children, and did not have the proper documents to be in the United States.
Robles-Lumbreras allegedly admitted to Border Patrol Agents that she was smuggling the children in exchange for cash.
A hearing is set for Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 1:30 p.m.
