Former Kinloch mayor hasn't returned city vehicle months after stepping down
(KMOV.com) -- A former mayor in Kinloch is still using city property he is not entitled to, and taxpayers are on the hook.
Interim Mayor Theda Wilson told News 4 former mayor Darren Small has been driving a car intended to belong to the city’s mayor and the battle to get it back is getting ridiculous.
Wilson says Small never gave the car back after he stepped down in October, and any efforts to retrieve it have been ignored by council members.
“How can we expect the people to do the right thing if the leadership is not doing what they’re supposed to do?” she said.
We went to Small’s home and found a blue Ford with a Kinloch city license plate parked outside, but were told he wasn’t home.
Similarly, the city administrator said she could not talk about the issue and Alderwoman Evelyn Carter refused to comment.
