Reynosa man claims he was forced to smuggle $1.7 million in cocaine

A Reynosa man is behind bars but claims he was forced to smuggle $1.7 million dollars worth of cocaine into the United States.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) arrested 36-year-old Antonio Guillen-Rangel on federal drug charges on Saturday.
Court records show that Guillen-Rangel drove up from Mexico at the Anzalduas International Bridge in a beige Ford Ranger.
Customs officers sent his truck to secondary inspection after a K-9 officer allgedly detected the presence of illegal drugs.
Records show authorities allegedly found 19 bundles of cocaine in the door panels of his pickup truck.
Guillen-Rangel told investigators that he was first approached to smuggle drugs back in December.
The Reynosa declined but unknown men later fenced him while driving and threatened him saying they knew where he and his family lived.
Guillen-Rangel appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Dorina Ramos in McAllen on Monday.
Court records show that Guillen-Rangel is a Mexican national who lives in Reynosa.
Judge Ormsby denied bond for him until a Thursday morning hearing.
