Ohio Democrats can't stall collective-bargaining vote by fleeing
Wisconsin's Senate Democrats delayed a vote this week on a collective-bargaining bill that they oppose by fleeing the state, leaving the chamber with too few members to proceed. But Ohio Democrats shouldn't get any ideas. That won't work here. Voting on a bill in the Wisconsin Senate requires at least 20 of the 33 senators to show up. Republicans control that chamber 19-14, so when all the Democrats ignored orders to vote and instead fled the state, the plan stalled, at least temporarily.
