According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, July nonfarm payrolls (NFP) rose 162,000. Expectations were for 185,000 – a big swing and a miss.
Junes’s NFP was revised lower to 188,000.
The unemployment rate fell from 7.5% to 7.4%. The rate dropped because the civilian labor force declined by 37,000 … from 155,835 to 155,798.
