Girl, 11, detained after stabbing of woman with kitchen knife

(AP) -- DALLAS-- Dallas police have detained an 11-year-old girl after a sleeping woman was stabbed nine times while in the family's home.
Police spokeswoman Monica Cordova says Saturday's attack involved family violence. Police declined to release the relationship between the girl and the 41-year-old woman who was stabbed following an argument.
The victim was transported to Methodist Dallas Medical Center and remained in stable condition Sunday.
Investigators say the girl apparently used a knife from the kitchen. Officials say the juvenile, whose name hasn't been released, faces charges of family violence aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
